  1. Can rarely remember Isak doing what Woltemade did just there, which was move out to the left to defend after Gordon had come in centrally.
  2. The entire team was dead on its feet during that run and we also had zero pace in midfield with Longstaff attempting his best Joelinton impression in front of Burn.
  3. We beat PSG 4-1 with Burn at LB. Is it ideal? No, but I'd also rather have him in the team than not.
  4. We're going to have a run this season where we start battering teams and I'll have to go to page 2 to find this thread.
  5. If we can do that we'll be comfortably on track to advance and the whole season will have a different outlook. It's a very big game for us.
  6. Last season it took 11-12 points to finish in the top 24 and 16 points to finish top 8. Even if we're perfect in the final three home games we're likely going to need 3+ points away from home. Fail to win this and there's almost no margin for error left.
  7. They will be fine. That being said, if they didn't spend £100-200m in the best way possible (Wirtz being the more likely bust IMO) then it will have an impact.
  8. Ramsdale, Krafth, Thiaw, Miley, and Osula should all be involved here.

    Nick Woltemade

I hope we see Bruno/Tonali, Gordon/Woltemade/Elanga, Wissa at some point.
  10. Can’t imagine what the Villa message boards are like right now. This place would be unbearable if we had their start to the season.
  11. Not sure there’s a tremendous amount of analysis needed beyond Isak + the Wissa injury (and the Gordon red) has cost us points to start the season. How many we’ll never know. Good to see the amount of rotation and the defensive solidity.
  12. Not sure why anyone cares tbh. A tricky away game less than 72 hours after playing Barcelona. It’s a very useful point.
  13. That’s one of the worst free kick routines I’ve ever seen
  14. An out of form Barnes is still a massive upgrade from Willock.
  15. Not sure if it’s physical or mental but Willock is totally broken.
  16. If the plan was to contain and frustrate them then it feels like job done. Hopefully we can take advantage of our quality bench options. Willock is a pointless player at the moment.
  17. These quotes from Gordon are telling: Yesterday was frustrating, but we're also not going to face a better team than that until PSG away. The midfield is arguably the best in the world.
  18. The vast majority of teams who concede a late goal away from home would spend the next 5-10 minutes in desperation mode, even against inferior opposition. Their experience and quality on full display at the end.
  19. They are very impressive, it must be said. The way they harry to win back the ball and then it's impossible to get it off them.
  20. This feels like an even more regretful version of the Dortmund game.
  21. Can't remember the last time he had even a good game, let alone a great one.
