My god how are Brighton not ahead against Arsenal.
-
We didn't play that way for the last two seasons? Obviously Isak is not "physically dominant" but our entire game has been getting the ball to our goal scorer as quickly and as many times as possible. Certain circumstances have forced a change, though we're still quite clearly not after possession for possession's sake. It's been a debate on this board for two years whether or not we can compete at the top tier without becoming a possession side. Pedants

I meant this part in terms of what we've done and done well: Even City themselves have stepped back from the pure possession game, replacing Ederson with Gianluigi Donnarumma, effectively turning the clock back 10 years in the process. Their game is now about getting the ball to their physically dominant No 9 as quickly and as often as possible. Everywhere you look, teams are going direct,

I wonder if part of it is related to the increased attention on set pieces and teams realizing that shooting from X yards out is a low probability event, so more of them are played as some form of a pass.
-
From an Athletic article about Spurs / Thomas Frank: Feel like Eddie was ahead of the curve on some of this (and criticized for it). I think we've tried for multiple years to put an emphasis on set pieces also; we just haven't quite cracked it.

Not totally ideal since he was ill, but pretty great that we made it through a CL/PL week with 6 points and this guy only playing 30 minutes.
-
The goal music is truly terrible.
-
It’s not Eddie’s way and I love him for it, but Fergie or Klopp would start making little remarks like “imagine how good he’d be without defenders hanging on him” and after awhile it would influence things.
-
Increasingly struggling to understand this. How did no one else in Europe see this?
-
Agree, he was in a lot of good positions. I think the tone in here would be quite different though if we hadn’t won. So many opportunities before the goal were ending up at his feet and very few good things happened once he touched the ball. I believe but he should probably be our third choice RW right now.
-
You may have never used that specific word, but your constant criticism of him would lead one to believe you do not rate him like most. If you're going to bump this thread every time he's had an off day (when we've asked him to play nearly every minute for three years, which is context you seem to ignore) then you're probably going to hear it when he scores a 90th minute winner.

I mean, if you’re going to call one of the club’s greatest and most important players overrated for his whole career you’re going to get some stick.
-
It is in fantasy scoring but don’t think Opts credits it. It should be though.
-
Thought he messed up the break for the winner but credit to him for getting that quality shot away. The most likely outcome remains that we turn him into a profit but definitely seems to be improving.

IMO annual derbies is a plus now that we’re not owned by Mike Ashley.

As it stands it’d be surprising if 1-2 promoted clubs didn’t stay up, which is good for the league. Good for us they beat Chelsea too. We’ll overtake them eventually.
