  1. We certainly rode our luck at times in a couple of these, but were it not for a questionable penalty we win 1-0 in Paris and we did the job last night if not for Trippier's mistake. It would have been kind of fortunate but we might still be in the CL and we'd be back in the LC semifinal if not for those two moments. I think our away form is poor and also requires some additional context like the state of things heading into Bournemouth and Spurs, plus the number of late points we've dropped (which is partially fatigue / injuries and partially tactics).
  2. People are lying to themselves if they think this wouldn't be a bit of a blow. It was a big deal that we got him and it would be an equally big deal to lose him so quickly. It's especially silly to say we wouldn't be missing much because of one transfer window that is far too early to judge given the circumstances. We (pretty much all football fans and pundits) have a terrible habit of judging transfer windows in a vacuum when it's pretty obvious we are planning multiple windows ahead. We don't yet know what the next puzzle pieces are and he's not suddenly bad at his job because we bought a player with a gambling problem. But, also, bringing in first team players is only part of the job. He's been creating a new scouting and development infrastructure, setting up some version of what City / Chelsea / Brighton have been doing (see: Minteh), and working to overhaul the academy so we can hopefully have many more Miley's in the future. He's not irreplaceable and the new owners have been on the money with their appointments, but it would definitely be a setback and the fact it would be Man United makes it even worse.
  3. Gordon, Miggy, and Wilson all really need to rest. I'm sure Isak would benefit from another few days. Bruno also needs a rest, but we seemingly can't afford that at the moment. Lascelles also seems like he needs a rest. Don't know how to change it, but we also can't go on like this.
  4. Could be wrong, but I think that's misleading. Many of those "passes" were more like clearances with no one available.
  5. Gordon has to be off. It doesn't even matter who goes there - could be Dummett if necessary.
  6. We desperately need to be able to rotate our wingers. Gordon and Miggy running on fumes hurts so much of our play.
  7. Without 29 year old Raheem Sterling in their team I don't think I'd be worried about anything. Felt that way in the home game too.
  8. I'll be pretty disappointed with him if he leaves this quickly despite recognizing the draw of the opportunity. I'd like to think we'd demand significant compensation and also make it take as long as possible.
  9. Aside from the obvious reasons it'd be nice to win a trophy, I'd love the security it would presumably give Eddie. It'd be nice to not be reading or talking about his job with every dip in form.
  10. I feel pretty confident people will be more upset if we lose at Luton than if we lose tomorrow. Dropping league points seems to result in the biggest meltdowns.
  11. Not necessarily tomorrow, but we have to find a way to rest Bruno. In terms of our season going off the rails, we ain't seen nothing yet if we were to lose him for any period of time.
  12. Like seeing on Instagram that your ex has moved on without you.
  13. Was Bruno sobbing during the celebration?
  14. Feels like an eternity ago that the Miggy-Bruno one-two worked.
  15. Once again you're entirely skipping over wages, which is where there is a massive disparity. There's an entire group of players in world football that are simply unavailable to Newcastle due to their total cost. You have at least a handful of them. You've moved the goalposts to the owners, but the original debate was about Ten Hag and also this factually incorrect line: "Newcastle is a ... club with way more resources." The idea that Newcastle has more resources is based on a theoretical pile of money that 1) we don't know how much they'd spend and, more importantly, 2) they aren't allowed to spend. In terms of actual resources that have been spent on the playing squad and everything else there is no comparison. Based on spend, Manchester United should be cemented in the top 4 and potentially challenging for titles. If you want to say Ten Hag needs more time so that money is invested in the players he wants then that's totally fair. But don't act like Eddie Howe and Newcastle are on equal footing with a club spending 2x the wages.
  16. % of potential resources is comparing owners, so it's irrelevant here. This isn't a Glazers debate. Man United have 9 players, almost a whole starting XI, making north of £200k/wk. NUFC have zero. Man United have 15 players, nearly a whole matchday squad, making north of £100k/wk. NUFC have 5. There are varying sources on this, but Man United's wage bill is conservatively £100m more per year than Newcastle's. You are lying to yourself if you think there is any kind of comparison to be made between the financial resources available to Ten Hag and Eddie Howe. And when you see this, combined with where each club was two years ago, you can see why that tweet and any attempt to defend it is complete nonsense.
  17. Even ignoring the different starting points (which is very relevant), you don't count wages in financial backing?

    Goalkeeper's Union

I don’t even know why but I loved Chilavert. Campos was an OG MLS legend. I went to the first MLS All Star game, which was a doubleheader with Brazil vs World All Stars after. Campos played in both games.
  19. Agreed, though it's not clear to me if we ever really had a chance. It seems he was very set on Liverpool.
