I know it's highly unlikely and they cannot do it for everyone but would love to see the players contribute to something for the fans to show respect. Would be massive for the club. Would help PR relations with the support and bring a United mentality back to the club...

I wouldn't have thought so. They might do for the remainder of this season (though their season tickets will make sure they don't go used for home league games in anyway), in future though I can't see the club never selling those seats again. I think the club might do the honourable thing and put up a plaque for them outside of the ground. Aye, that would be canny.

I agree. I was thinking maybe put it towards something of more use - get a banner (large one) then take it to the City game. Get something on it that can be re-used. That way not only are we paying our respects, we can use it again for big games to generate more atmosphere as they would have wanted. How much is left btw?

Lads (and lasses), What is the key component of all your enjoyment as an NUFC fan? I bet the fans were always involved, in one way or another - the atmosphere will be a part of most of your memories. So - my idea (on top of the idea of suits / shirts which other people suggested) is that we set up a fund for a "Supporters banner". A massive one. My banner was around 4 metres by one and a half. If we could get like 5 or so of these and stitch them together or better still get them professionally made or something we should get a massive banner saying Bobby Robson's quote and One City, One Team, One Love or something with a Tyne bridge and football on or something. I really think we should aim for something like this and roll it out at big games. I would f***ing love to see a massive display of unity for these two lads. What do you all reckon? There must be flag shops around or Ultra websites where we can get ideas re. material, etc...

Not the sort of reminder you like - but a reminder none-the-less... Your club is your club, you follow them in rain, in sleet, in snow. Wherever they may go. No matter which set of overpaid pre-madonna mercenaries are on the pitch, which deluded, arrogant owner is in charge, or which stupid twat with more weaponry than sense tries to take that from you, it will always be yours. That could have been any one of us match-goers. RIP John and Liam, I didn't know you but you are part of my family.
