  1. Jeez, who would of thought we would sign another keeper ahead of a striker and left back?
  2. Not as fast? He's quicker than Routledge. Rubbish. Routledge is faster over short distances. Have you even seen Marveaux play? Your terrific "scout report" on him around when we signed him was probably the most far off description you could've come up with. Seen Marveaux play seven or eight times. Routledge is faster. Marveaux is the better player. What about Marveuax's end product though? Yes, Routledge was quick, but he didn't do much with it, if he got past his man. Marveaux's end product is much better. Not convinced about his ability from the right (everyone else on here seems to think he's incredible at cutting in and shooting), but he's going to be brilliant at taking on RBs and laying the ball off for HBA and crossing for Dembaba. You are right there. He is similar to Walcott, Lennon and Bale in that they are wingers in the traditional sense with left footers on the left right footers on the right type players.
  3. I'll be at the Rosemount watching the game if anyone from Adelaide wants to say hi
  4. Darn it, I have my hopes up about this deal now. Best get set for disappointment...
  5. Welcome to midtable-mediocrity Gash
  6. I've set myself up for massive forum humiliation now it seems
  7. 24 points with 3 to play including the captain. 2 injured players and 2 bench players in my squad already
  8. Maiga scored goals for fun last season. Behind a quality midfield in a high scoring team and with a good partner. Maiga could probably do a job on the left of a front 3, but that it also the best position of Marveaux and arguably Ben Arfa and Obertan as well as having Ferguson and Jonas who can play there (but probably better on the left of a midfield 4) so it is hardly that much of a positive.
  9. A left-footed Marc Antoine-Fortune maybe? lol Perhaps a less graceful looking Ryan Babel if Liverpool played him as a striker.
  10. I don't want to be seen as someone who thinks they are a prophet or anything, i've been wrong about many players before! Shitehouse as an overall description of the player was over the top, it was just my immediate reaction to the news we are looking like signing him. The dot-points i've raised are my honest, rational opinion though. I'll still be giving him a chance like I do with every new signing
  11. Perhaps the headline was a little harsh, but i did mean in it in the context of him being a shitehouse signing in the way he doesn't offer anything different to the strikers we have at the club already. I don't have much faith that he will even be a competent striker at this level, yet alone someone befitting a side trying to finish top 10 My Housemate is a bum who bets on football for a living who would watch 25 games plus a week with a particular interest in French football. It is just my opinion mind and he (If you care) thinks i'm being overly critical.
  12. He is bloody shitehouse. Inflated goal ratio because he gets very good service from the midfield. *Very one footed (Left) *Strong Physically *Good speed and acceleration *Clumsy finisher (unable to shoot off balance/make shots under pressure) *Mediocre first touch *Limited range of passing *Link up potential minimal *Decent ability to get in goalscoring positions *Can win headers but not particularly a great header of the ball *Has some ability to dribble past players Just my opinion though...
  13. Looked really good with the ball at his feet and his back to goal. Might be something in Pardew suggesting he could play as a striker...
  14. Can't wait! Krul Simmo Saylor Colo New LB/Raylor Barton Tiote Cabaye Jonas Obertan Ba Sunderland 0-1 Newcastle
  15. Krul 7 Not too much to do. Importantly held Walcott's shot Simpson 6 Got skinned quite a bit today and surprisingly made to look slow when chasing after Arshavin, Gibbs and Gervinho. Saylor 8 One silly moment when he tried to go for a run beside, he was very solid at the back and read the game well. Coloccini 9 The key contributor to a fantastic performance from our centre-halfs today. Raylor 5.5 Not as bad as well all feared but was easily beaten one on one by Gervinho mostly. Barton 6.5 Lucky to play 90 minutes, shite set pieces but was quite regularly involved. Some overly ambitious shots at the end Tiote 7.5 As a defensive midfielder he was great and won alot of challenges. Passing was erratic and he looked underdone with the ball. Cabaye 6 Very quiet in the first half. Spurned a good opportunity to get the opener and misplaced some passes. Will get better Jonas 5.5 Totally ineffectual but ran hard as always. Ba 6 Two big men up front didn't work at all and Ba probably didn't win as many headers as you would expect, not that anything would have came of them. Shola 6 Same as above Subs: Obertan 7 Fantastic the first 15-20 minutes but was then pushed out right and he totally faded out of the game. Best: 6 Didn't offer anything different to Shola or Ba. Lovenkrands NA Good result first up, season starts next weekend.

A failure of this window so far was not getting rid of some of the plebs. This is a good start
  19. Liverpools best signing of the summer by far. Don't fault anyone at the club, it was inevitable after Caroll was sold that he would move on either this year or next.
  20. I should have said i'm from Adelaide. Had a small group of 5 that used to go out and watch games at places like the Rosemont or the Casino
  21. There is an Aussie Mags forum, facebook group twitter account etc. Just type in Aussie Mags and something will come up

    Erik Pieters

I think he is the type of player that will adapt well to the PL from the little i've seen of him. Will be more constructive going forward than Danny Simpson and can put a good cross in. Not the defender Enrique is though. Satisfied with the signing, as long as it is a good price no more than 5 million.
  23. 3 million, if true is a very good price!
