  1. Off season gets harder to cope with every year

    Chris Hughton

    Lollerskates, here we go...
  3. I guess it depends on your definition of a major signing (personally I don't think finance comes into it) , but signing a current French International, who has just been a key part of a team that has done a domestic double in France and has a great reputation is a pretty major signing on paper in my opinion.
  4. Brail goes 1-0 up against Australia in Womens world cup. Very Newcastle United-esque goal to exceed with horrible hesitant defending of a ball in the air.

    Sunderland...

He will be gone in 3
  6. That price... Yeh Levy's done good again. The 14m bid from PSG for Palacios appears to be true too. I thought it was bullshit at first but reports are now saying he's discussing personal terms after they agreed to pay the price quoted (14m). How we got more then we paid i'll never know. Not buying into this Levy doing wonders to get massive transfer fees. Been very lucky imo with some of the fees you have been getting. Like we were with Carroll and Sunderland with Henderson. lucky? Berbatov = 30.5m Carrick = 18m steed , tainio and Chimbonda = 16m Pamarot, Mendes, and Davis = 8m Keane = 20.3m You've got a point, it's not luck if you can do it over and over again
  7. Think Pav is probably worth that for a Russian team. Cannot believe Tottenham are getting away with signing a dud like Palacios with such a good fee...
  8. You honestly think either of them could make it? Possibly, never seen Airey play but finishing top scorer of whatever reserve league he played in is a good start. Though from memory he is a converted fullback, so there are doubts. If Ranger can get his head straight you never know. Though I haven't seen him strike a football in a way to suggest he could ever be a good finisher at the top level. Probably a Cameron Jerome-esque player at best.
  9. We don't need strikers with potential at the moment, we have Ranger and Airey coming through and anymore youngsters would just be stifling their development imo
  10. Sure, but not so much if we get near to 10 million for him.
  11. What we don't need is more signings like Danny Simpson.
  12. I don't think Moussa has the same adaptability and versatility as Matuidi in midfield. From what i've seen he plays defensive midfielder and that is about all he can do.
  13. Jonathan Reis would go along with our free agents who cant pass medicals transfer philosophy
  14. You owe O'Hara an apology for that.
  15. Those overall profit/loss numbers are very surprising.

    Fraser Forster

Swansea are also on the lookout, but it would pretty much solidify him as third choice keeper, and he is never going to get a shot at the shirt if he is constantly loaned out.
  17. tbf Spurs have a big squad with alot of dead weight. I think the board is entitled to ask for Harry to sell before he buys.
  18. His headlines can be abit sensationalist, he gets things wrong occasionally and he jumps on news stories without a second thought sometimes but by reading the content of his articles for the last few years (He often reports on random Tribalfootball-esque transfer gossip, gives a headline like "Player A could Join Toon!" then says the rumour is probably unsubstantiated or unrealistic in text of the article) you can tell he is undoubtedly more football savvy, well presented and realistic than 75% of the members of this board. Plus Jose Enrique was a known fan
  19. I can't see him going to Arsenal. Song and Wilshere are likely to occupy the deep two central players in their first 11 with Diaby, Ramsay and Frimpong coming through the ranks and as backup.
  20. Haven't seen anywhere near as much of Erding as I have Ruiz, so dunno really. Ruiz is more of a withdrawn forward, complete footballer type who can play wide or behind the striker aswell as up top. He's a bit languid and skinny, but elegant and a very nice player to watch. I do have my doubts how he'd do in England though, don't think he's the banker in this league that Suarez was always gonna be. Has really struggled in European competition as well from what i can remember. Don't think he has scored any goals in European competition
  21. Don't see how. Marveaux's best position is on the left. N'Zogbia's best position is on the right. Ben Arfa's best position is in the middle. hmmm, I don't think HBA has played much football in the middle, thought he had pretty much always played on the left side of a 4-3-3, in a very similar way to Marveaux with both playing very centrally. Granted N'zogbia is slightly different in that he plays along the touchline when on the left and is very capable of cutting in on the right. The formation that would be required all 3 would surely be the 4-2-3-1 but i'm just wondering whether a Marveaux, HBA, Nzogbia midfield behind a striker would work effectively and the way we all hope it would.
  22. I agree Cabaye is primiarily a defensive midfielder but Modric hasn't really played an offensive role this season either, more a of a player that links up play in the middle third with another Defensive midfielder that shields the defense (Palacios, Huddlestone for Tottenham, Tiote for Newcastle) and an attacking midfielder with little defensive responsibilities (Van Der Vaart for Tottenham, possibly HBA for Newcastle) which I could easily see replicated here at Newcastle.
  23. Would anyone else be worried that if we signed him, Marveaux and HBA we would have 3 too similar players to able to accommodate them into the one formation?
  24. I think he could probably play the role Modric does for Tottenham quite well
  25. Probably an agent telling him lies to appear to be on the brink of the big time and working harder for their client than they really are.
