  1. He'll be fine, he only needs to be better than our current central midfielders, that's not much of a challenge.
  2. I think it does make a difference for FFP to some extent, because FFP only allows losses of up to £15m per season unless those losses are covered by "secure funding", the limit goes up to £115m over three seasons if those losses are covered. One of the forms of "secure funding" is "contributions that an equity participant has made by way of payments for shares through the Club’s share capital account or share premium reserve account".
  3. It's interesting that we don't have any new sponsorship deals yet, it's possible we've submitted a deal for approval and the PL either haven't made a decision or are saying it's above fair market value.
  4. If that were the case then surely crime rates would be directly proptinal to the severity of punishment? Which I don't think is the case, to some extent the opposite, places with very severe punishments often have higer rates of murder and sexual assault. Most people wouldn't commit rape and murder because most people are inherently caring and empathetic, not because they think they'd get caught. I very much doubt any such thoughts of 'getting away with it' entered Greenwood's head. As he says in the recording "you're my girlfriend" it seems more like he felt he was entitled to do what he did to her.
  5. Freedom of speech is not absolute. If someone is posting from a professional account linked to their employer they need to be extremely careful about what they post.
  6. Bit of a misjudgement by him given that the company he worked for is owned by the Haymarket group, which is owned by Michael Heseltine, who possibly has just a few links to the Saudi state from his time organising billions of pounds worth of arms deals to them.
  7. We've got decent cover at left back in Manquillo, Dummett and Burn.
  8. Hopefully if Bruno gives us more control in midfield our attacking players could start to look a lot better than they do at the moment. They've just been feeding off scraps hoyed up to them so far.
  9. I know everyone assumes that goes on but 'sounding out' players (including through their agent or other players) without their club’s permission is tapping up. We couldn't do that within the rules of football. I think we were naive in relation to Lingard though, we got played by Man U and it might cost us dearly.
  10. Although our main problem has been conceding goals, particularly late on. We've had no problem taking the lead, we'd be top 6 if we had seen out all of the matches we took the lead in.
  11. Yeah, we desperately need someone just in front of the defence to effectively move the ball forward. It's so frustrating how often Shelvey in particular gets the ball, sees no options then just turns and passes back to the defence.

Relegation will at very least substantially delay it.

It makes absolutely sense, another club potentially competing for a Champions League place will cost them a hell of a lot more.

I said all along that they were just deliberately wasting our time.
  15. I'm sure that's true, but that is tapping up according to the rules. No approach can be made to an under contract player, either directly or through an agent, without the club's permission. If reports are true it sounds like we might have been particularly blatant about it, with loads of reports of us actually agreeing personal terms with players before a fee has been agreed.
  16. Whilst I'm sure that's true, technically that would be tapping up if we don't have permission from the club to talk to their player. I do worry about how close we've potentially been skirting to breaking the rules on tapping up, if reports of all of these agreements of personal terms before a fee has been agreed are true, and whether it'll come back to bite us.
  17. We could conceivably price Milan out of the deal if we make the same offer again in the summer.
  18. Sorry, that was meant to be a reply to Stan's post.
  19. @Happinesstan That's some Jordan Peterson level bullshit there.
  20. I mean as someone who is pretty much guaranteed to settle in and instantly improve us. There's always a risk of players from another league flopping, even if they looked great in that league. We've had a few examples of that, from Spain in particular (Marcelino, Luque).
  21. Great signing, probably better in many ways than Diego Carlos for where we are right now.
  22. Dummett, Manquillo and Lewis will all play ahead of Ritchie.
  23. We're signing a current Brazilian full international player, they lose 6-0 to Bolton wearing fake Brazilian kits
  24. Although he's obviously not quick, Wood does make those runs. If you watch the video of his goals for Burnley a lot of them came from him running behind the defence onto a through ball. A Burnley fan I know was going on about him not being able to stay onside, but that's possibly just a sign of him making those runs and not having the players to spot them.
