Actually there are three: Grade I, II* and II. About 90% of all listed buildings are Grade II, about 7% Grade II*, Grade I is for buildings of exceptional significance. Architectural and historic significance come from more than just aesthetic value but you need new eyes if you think that Leazes Terrace doesn't stand out, it's a stunning example of Georgian architecture.

How? Explain to me how a Level 7 tier....with the exact same capacity as the opposing Leazes End Level 7 tier...could be added to the Gallowgate Stand when there are office blocks 60 feet away. Even if they could come up with some wizardry that created a floating/hanging tier of that size it would still block out the light for that office block and would thus be objected to by the owner of said office block. In planning terms, impacts on light to offices don't carry the same weight as impacts on residential properties. From my rough measurements on google maps the Gallowgate would only have to be extended about 10m to match the Leazes, a cantilevered design could probably be accommodated without impacting on Strawberry Place.

Inflated sponsorship deals are specifically prohibited - but enforcement of that has to be a nightmare. Didn't City get into trouble with their airline sponsorship? They aren’t. They can’t be inflated by a company which has links with the owners. Everything else is hard to prove. If City, PSG, and Spurs in recent years can gain sponsorship deals 1000’s time higher than any previous deals, it would be hard to argue that other clubs can’t achieve the sale. Eh? First Google search tells me that Man City's Etihad sponsorship was one of the reasons they got banned from the Champions League? https://slate.com/culture/2020/02/manchester-city-banned-champions-league-uefa-sponsorship-scandal.html Unless it wasn't obvious I was referring to Saudi/PIF/Armamco sponsorship? IIRC Man City only got done because emails were leaked proving that they were deliberately using the sponsorship deals to get around FFP.

Roman’s mate probably. Kasparov is a vocal critic of Putin, so probably not. I'm as excited as anyone at the prospect of my club being rich beyond my wildest dreams, and I'm willing to turn a blind eye to that fact that the money will be coming from a terrible, murderous regime, but let's not kid ourselves that the House of Saud is anything other that a terrible, murderous regime. Let's not be cunts about this, these people are not attacking Newcastle United, they have no interest in Newcastle United. They are attacking a terrible murderous, regime and rightly so!

Comments they receive after the deadline and up until the application is determined should still be taken into account. It's not a deadline as such, just the date after which a decision could be made.

My impression is that he has made most of his personal wealth by selling SD shares when they're flying high and buying them back when they're low, rinse and repeat. Based on my completely uninformed and possibly incorrect observations, this current fall in the value of SD might not be as bad for him, or as unforeseen, as it appears.

Yeah, they’ll no doubt grant in retrospect, and it does happen quite often. However it is an indication to Charnley and Ashley that the fans will be on top of everything, and where ever we can, we’ll attack. For those saying it might need permission because it’s illuminated, all signs need planning permission, illuminated or not. The sign for the turnstiles will also go down as a 2nd infringement. To be pedantic, it's advertisement consent not planning permission and, whilst you are technically correct that all advertisements need consent, many forms are advertisement are either excluded from the need for consent or granted deemed consent by the Advertisement Regulations. A turnstile sign would be likely to fall within one of those classes of advertisement benefiting from deemed consent, depending on its size and other factors.

Clutching at more straws. Benitez signing a contract with Newcastle ties him to the club, whether it is sold or not. There is nothing to stop him having agreed some kind of deal with BZG to be their manager if/when the deal goes through. If he were to do that then it would be likely to be kept secret, losing Rafa reduces the value of the club and puts more pressure on Ashley to sell. Unless and until it is announced from either side that BZG have pulled out, or he takes over somewhere else, this doesn't necessarily mean that Rafa is gone.

I'm a bit fit, but certainly not proper.

Some would say that's a mout point

Imagine being a mackem if this happens, the day after the last kick of the season sank them even further from the depths of lowest point in their club's history. I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

I assume it would be as long as the fit and proper person test takes.

this sort of naievity really needs looking at. he is taking money out without reducing the debt. No need to be so cunty, I was only trying to grasp at possible positives in a sea s***. I am far from naive. Even if he has paid himself back it's not really helping matters. I think most of us assumed his 300mil asking price was inclusive of the debt but if he has paid himself a chunk of debt back and is still asking 300Mil then that would be another matter entirely. It does. If Ashley sold the club, inclusive of £140m debt for £300m he would be not much more than braking even on what he paid for the club. If the club clears the debt first and he sells for £300m he'll make more than £150m profit. -

One positive is that it indicates that Ashley has been 'paying himself back' a huge amount of money and, if we do stay up this season, we might no longer be in debt to him. That could make the sale of the club much more straightforward. -

The Euro - US Dollar rate didn't really change immediately after the referendum result. The Pound plummeted. History suggest that there is quite a lot of doubt that the Euro will be equally affected. -

It's got to the point that I'm not bothered whether we win or lose. The only person that will benefit if we stay up is that sociopathic cunt. If we're stuck with him I hope we plummet and become a weight around his neck. -

Why should I gamble fixing the brakes in my car with my own money, would you? Just add it to the value of the car when you come to sell it, you could stick the cost of the petrol you put in it on there as well. Make sure to put "no tyre kickers or time wasters" in the advert. -

Although, for the protection of my sanity, I subscribe to the theory that this and last year's takeover sagas are just an excuse not to spend in the January window... I had a suspicion that the Everton home match about this time last year was pivotal in the takeover, or lack thereof. I remember Rafa hinting something along those lines in his pre-match press conference. Had we won that match I think it may have given Staveley enough confidence that we would survive to meet Ashley's demands. In the end we narrowly lost and by the time results turned around Ashley it was too late for the takeover to happen. If the current takeover is genuine (from both sides) I have a slight, wildly optimistic, suspicion that today's result could possibly be just as pivotal as that Everton one might have been.
