Can't quite believe how we're not 1-0 down.

Just finished watching this back. Quite liked the look of Barlaser - quite tidy, picked some nice passes, could be a nice alternative in the middle to Hayden/Colback. Lazaar did quite well too - was more involved than Yedlin on the other flank at least - and I really hope he's going to be in the mix for a start soon. El Mhanni was quiet - looks a bit lightweight (there was a moment in the first half where he did well, drove to the byline after a couple of stepovers only to be brushed aside by Brum's right back before he could cross), not particularly quick but seemed to grow into the game a bit more in the second half. Findlay looked decent on the ball but was seldom tested defensively. Shelvey was a clear cut above everyone on the pitch and frankly strolled through the game - in a good way.

Townsend didn't want to play in the Championship because he feared it would harm his England prospects though. He is well out of the picture out of the moment and doesn't appear to be enjoying life at Palace either. Didn't he make the last England squad? Yes Aye, back in November. I'd be shocked if he made the next one.

Have only seen the highlights from yesterday but it was encouraging to see him running at the defence with the ball from deep. Too often this season he's looked to receive the ball with his back to goal where he gets out-muscled from behind. Diame can play like that due to his size; Ayoze can't.

Don't know but Rafa seemed to really want him pre-season. Doubt that has changed. Everton have one midfielder in and one out on loan, anyone know whether they look comfortable in midfield/don't need McCarthy? Tom Davies is starting for them in centre mid at the moment. Certainly looks as if McCarthy is out of favour. Sheyi Ojo was a name mentioned in the Chronicle this morning.
