  1. Had an odd dream last night. NUFC's next friendly was at home to a women's team from Norway. We lost 0-3 and for some reason Peter Lovenkrands scored the opener for the women's team from the penalty spot before celebrating wildly in front of the Gallowgate.
  2. My take on this is that we know a loan bid will be unsuccessful unless we pay 100% of his wages and have a high agreed fee, so we're merely putting in a loan bid we know will be turned down in order to drive the price down. If Carroll wants to come he'll ask for the move and that might put the price down. FWIW jimburst's post on the other page sums it up for me. We shouldn't go anywhere near him.
  3. The bit about him flying into England last night, is that true or something they've made up?
  4. This interest in Carroll is almost certainly opportunistic. I'm confident we have targets beyond De Jong and will strive to get those in, once we get the more pressing matter of the Simpson/Debuchy situation sorted out.

Same here. The nigh 70 page thread on here though suggests people take these things very seriously though. Yeah, I'm not bothered either. It's a training top at the end of the day, it's not on the actual replica/match shirt. It's a bit like someone complaining that the Prime Minister wears tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt when he's sat at home with his family on an evening.
  6. Really hope this is the last we hear of this. No doubt there'll be loads around deadline day though.
  7. Ryan Taylor is only a throwback in that he's a scouser with not much pace He'll be on less money, do a lot less drinking than Nolan and has a lot less baggage than Barton (like that's hard). He als.o managed to successfully agree a new contract, is a lot more versatile than those two, and is considerably less of a billy big boots and potential problem in the dressing room. Plus, over the wall 1-0 fuck the mackems etc
  8. He's like the wizard behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz, relaying an image of greatness and power above all others, until he is found out and is shown up to be worthy of absolutely nothing. I for one hope that he gets a tonne of Championship offers and none from the Premier League - should he have any pride left, he'd accept an offer from a promotion chasing team and earn his final year(s) in the Premier League by attempting to fire them to the top of the Championship table. Of course, this won't happen - he'll either sign for a really shit PL team and play a dozen games before getting injured, or he'll merely retire and concentrate on the one thing he actually seems to enjoy, having shit racehorses.
  9. I think this transfer is probably taking a while to get going because Danny is driving from Newcastle to Reading in reverse.

Mignolet is a standard enough 6/10 Premier League keeper at the moment, although he's young and could get quite a bit better yet.
  11. He isn't a coward but he never, ever takes responsibility or criticism for what is blatantly his and his alone's error: see that Bellamy freekick goal at Anfield, which was pretty much wholly Simpson's fault. He passes the buck. The non-challenge at Brighton really annoyed me too. On a booking so doesn't even attempt to get to the ball or use his strength etc.
  12. I'm willing to bet this is a wind-up.
  13. Both losing, both odds on ffs
  14. Bet we manage to get goals later when the Germans run out of steam.
  15. Ryder says: Williamson captain New kit looks lush on Chemnitzer played Blaydon Races pre kickoff
  16. £5 on us and Hannover to pay £13.90
  17. Nigel Adkins has always impressed me as a manager. I remember his enthusiasm when Scunthorpe were playing Man City in the FA Cup third round, his interview was absolutely delightful. It was like a dad going to watch his bairn play for the first time and he could hardly contain himself.
  18. If Dempsey goes, it'll hurt Fulham but I don't think it'll impact them enough to send them down. They're a good team at home.

  20. Allardyce is programmed to keep teams in the division and he'll grind enough points out to keep West Ham above danger. Swansea I think will regress slightly but not enough for them to go down.
  21. QPR, West Brom and Wigan (finally!) for me like. Might even stick a few quid on it. Also tempted to see what price I can get for Watford and Notts Forest to go down after they've changed hands.
