we've had all the excuses about hard first 4 games from the local media and everyone connected with the club,plus the optimistic fans. we've had the club statements and proclamations of spending- well now its time for some action- starting with showing us we can compete with a club like West ham- whatever the result, we had better go and fucking compete.

The way I understood the Sky interview was more of a way to motivate the crowd (and players/staff) before a huge game, not a panic because people are being mean. it was a response to a Keegan interview. And a realization by Ashley that relegation was suddenly a real prospect and that should it happen, the income from fans would be needed again in the championship- IMO.

When he says continue to invest- Im certain he means, continue to invest in cheap players to speculate on a profit. Not only is he not investing in the slightest (which is fair enough tbh), he's effectively doing the exact opposite with his SD shite preventing the club from raising further commercial revenue.
