  1. I'd have him back in a shot.

    Could we survive?

Even Guthrie and Barton together would be better than what a fair few sides could field.
  3. I know it's okay just saying it, but I think Shola would have done better with the two headers that Carroll had and I'm absolutely positive that Guthrie would have buried the chance that fell to Ryan Taylor.
  4. Gets caught out of position far too much for my liking. Needs to work on his closing down too as he never seems to get close enough to the player he's meant to be marking.

We'd have a fighting chance with a few new players, along with some extra squad players and a new manager.
  6. Agreed. Lovenkrands really should have played more games than he has. I think he would better Harewood's goal ratio for us with a continued run in the side.
  7. Inman? And as for the team selection... Let's just say I'm glad we don't have you as manager. What's that bad about it? It's not like I've dropped our top goalscorer, now that would be stupid. And as Mick said, we have very little through the middle so having Inman on the bench, even if it's just for the experience, isn't a bad option. The other options are likely to be Geremi or Donaldson. Bit of an over-reaction on my part, but Inman may well be a promising midfielder, but he's seventeen years old and never really even tasted life on the subs bench, and I think would be totally ineffective and outplayed if brought on. And why pull a player out of a settled back four? Danny Simpson's gotta be a better option at right back to Ryan Taylor, surely? And to be honest my main point of reply was why Inman. I've never actually seen him play so I can't comment, just seems a bit soon to give him a place on the bench. He doesn't have to come on, but the option is there. We should be beating Derby and if we manage to get ourselves into a comfortable position, it would do no harm bringing him on for the last 15/20 minutes to give Nolan a bit of a rest. I know what you're saying about a settled back four, but I don't really rate Simpson. I think he's pretty poor and although I don't think Ryan Taylor is much better, I think he offers more going forward.

  9. Was just about to say exactly the same thing myself.
  10. Correct. Plus if he doesn't start, it's pointless having him on the bench.
  11. Harper R.Taylor - S.Taylor - Coloccini - Enrique Guthrie - Nolan - Smith - Jonas Carroll - Ameobi Subs: Krul, Kadar, Pancrate, Inman, LuaLua, Lovenkrands, Ranger
  12. When I first read his post I thought of a joke with the same intention, but it doesn't get simpler or better than how you put it. Well done. It'd only be funny of they didn't keep getting linked in the papers tbh. I think you're missing the joke - it's probably lost in translation. The joke is that they're "transfers" that in your opinion are never going to happen, and hence aren't proper for a thread entitled "Realistic Transfer Targets January 2010". It's a bad one, though. Which is my point. I think you should take cubaricho's advice, definitely lost in translation.

    Players in public

based on? Shearer made the players eat together while he was here, so Kevin was obviously pissed he couldn't pop out for a Burger King.
  14. And some people have had a go at Guthrie all season...
  15. I remember earlier on in the season when I got Enrique on the back of my shirt, the guy behind the counter asked me why I was getting Enrique on my shirt because he's "rubbish" and whole load of other crap. I should remind him what he said, he'd feel like a right twat.

    Jonas Gutierrez

Not hard to see why they don't at the minute...
  17. I have a team, not that I've watched much RL from them over the last couple of seasons. Guessing you just like watching or do you follow a team? I like watching it most of my favorite players come from the great Wigan teams pre-super league. I wish could bet against a try being given every time Stevo says "Its T-R-Y time...100% for me". He's okay is Stevo, met him a few times and he knows his stuff. He also knows how he comes across on TV but that's his job. Eddie is a lot worse than Stevo in my eyes, he really is clueless.

  19. No I do. I do miss Friday night RL games. And me. I'm probably the biggest rugby league fan on here and I can honestly say I've not heard the superiority thing from any fans I know. The 'public school boy' thing is mainly to do with Union. Never really understood the argument about footballers being soft either. In comparison to rugby players, they are, but that's because rugby players train for years to get into the mental and physical condition to be able to take the hits whereas footballers don't.
  20. He seems to have fantastic recovery pace though, so I'd take the gamble of him being our starter. Fantastic? I actually think he's pretty slow, he hardly seems to move even when it's apparent he's running as quickly as he can. I sometimes think you just like disagreeing with me. He caught Jermaine Johnson, who is one of the fastest players I've seen at SJP this season. Not at all. Our opinions sometimes differ and this is one of those occasions.

    World team of the year

I don't think they'd need to, to be honest.
