I've wanted us to sign Debuchy for long enough and said in the Summer that he should have been brought in to replace Simpson. I've defended Simpson when people have gone way over the top about him. There have also been times when you've tried to defend the indefensible.

Wait and see. I've seen both enough times to not have to wait. Then again, with the way you defend Simpson it'll probably take Debuchy playing like Maldini for you to class him as anything more than a 'slight upgrade'.

Whilst that is true I think people underestimate Ba. He's proven to be one of the very best strikers in the Premiership over the course of the last two seasons, especially first half of last season and this. Playing in a better team that create loads more chances, I wouldn't be surprised if he gave Van Persie a run for his money for Premiership top goalscorer. Point being Abramovich won't want his £50m striker sat on the bench.

However, I've personally got no doubt that if it's down to Cisse to take the central role on his shoulders and be the "main man" again he'll come up trumps for us. He's a special player in his own right. Agreed. Think Ba is the better all-round footballer but Cisse is the better out-and-out striker. Completely disagree like. Wouldn't rule out the idea of them getting more than 1 striker. They'll be in for Falcao/Cavani IMO. If they sign one of those as well as Ba he'll literally never get a game. He'd be their League Cup striker at best.
