What Diarra? Have we been linked with a Diarra or something?! Mamadou, who looks set to leave Real Madrid.
  2. Didnt we almost sign Lassana Diarra before he went to pompey? Just before Allardyce was sacked I think.
  3. What because we're talking about Sunderland? Whats the problem, they're not Voldemort you know, we are allowed to speak of them.
  4. Wtf? Berating us because we were in the Intertoto cup, a competition they've never been good enough to qualify for? You could go through half the points on there and ask how a Sunderland fan has the nerve to even attempt to take the piss.
  5. They've got Mick Quinn and David Kelly in the title too. One was a good palyer if im not mistaken and the other scored one of the most important goals in the clubs history. Like I said in another thread; Morons the lot of them. Anyway I like the whole fuss over the number 9. Its normally worn by our best attacker, the player all the young kids look up to.
  6. That Derby game. One of the worst games ive ever seen us play in over the years. Not just because of the woeful standard of opposition but seeing Allardyce go away to derby and attempt t play for a fucking draw. Miller scored a cracking goal too iirc. Having said that, 2 seasons in the prem; 2 goals For Wolves and 4 for Derby as they both finished bottom, 31 this year. Stay well clear please.
  7. Gah Kenny Miller can fuck off. Shite.
  8. Where's this Flamini stuff even come from? I'd w*** myself red raw if he came. Exactly the type of creative midfielder we've been crying out for since Roeder was in charge. Not that any of this will be true btw
  9. It seems they've got an ITK on RTG that's getting everything right. If Wigan are willing to let him go for 1M, it just shows how little he has improved since his time here then.
  10. ^ All but rules him out of a move away then?
  11. He hasnt been that solid for Wigan tbh just a little less error prone than he was here. He's still a distinctly average footballer that will make little to no improvement to their team. At a club like Wigan who aim only to survive each season his errors and defensive flaws arn't highlighted too much but when a club like Sunderland who are looking to progress into the top half, it wont be long before those errors and flaws seemingly become more obvious and are magnified. Maybe he's improved a little since his time here but he's still no more than average. Never understood those who continually defended him, yes he had his good games and flashes of brilliance but that was always outweighed by his mistakes. Wouldnt get into our team either tbh.
  12. Ah goldfish bowl boy. One of the vastly over rated players of the modern game. 1 Good season under Robson which he lived off until his 7M departure. Freddy Shepherd must have laughed all the way to the bank. It seems Spurs fans are still asking the same questions Newcastle fans were back in 2004; what exactly does this lad do? Though having said that he's still currently better than any of our central midfielders.
  13. Fantastic player. I cant stand him but he's a cracking player and he'd go some way to keeping us up, so yes I'd be happy.
  14. Asked him on twitter about it and claiming he's been watched by a scout this weekend How great would it be if Hughton had actually sent scouts over after being asked about him.
  15. The more I think about the gash in the Premier League the more hopeful I am. Sure, we're likely to be bummed off most of the top six or seven clubs but we only have to be above West Brom, Blackpool (both of whom are proven to be worse than we are) and one other from the likes of Wigan, Wolves and so on. That's only to ensure survival of course but it's hardly a long shot. Thats the one I worry about. More so because those teams seem to be spending money whilst we're still spending money from the Bassong deal. Last season, I'd fancy us to stay up at the expense of the 3 that went down as they were all considerably worse than the rest of the league, this season however it'll be much more tight.
  16. This debate has kicked off again because its the same person claiming they'd rather see us go down playing good football than stay up playing rubbish. Obviously the football wouldnt be that good if we were relegated so not sure how that one would work.
  17. Spot on. Newcastle to me represent the City, the region, the people and I want to see them inspire and command respect and to have ideals that are solid and lasting. I would rather play in the 4th division with pride intact and head held high than resort to s*** like narrowing the pitch or playing weakened teams in the Cup competions. We are Newcastle for f*** sake, not some other shitty club. Does anyone think Keegan or Robson would do it? We are not Stoke City or Wigan. For f*** sake, don't fall for the Mike Ashley bullshit. He has been unbelievably successful in lowering expectations by the look of it. The arrogance is astounding. Incase your forgetting we're in the same boat as them now man. Just because we're Newcastle doesnt mean we have to devine right to play good football, thats not what the game is all about. Amazing how you can expect to come straight up playing good football dismissing expectations of a relegation scrap. Thats not how being a promoted team works. At the end of the day Results are the be all and end all. Theres no arguing with that regardless of how nice or poor football we play.
  18. Missed an absolute sitter against us earlier in the season, probably would have earned Sheff Wed a draw too.
  19. I'd love to see weather those wanting attractive football over survival would still be saying the same if we were relegated. Somehow, I think not.
