Ba and Sturridge already included in their respective new squads.
Debuchy isn't. I suppose the aforementioned players already existed in the programming and it was just a case of moving teams. Our new recruit probably has to be created. Still, lax twats all the same.

Generally think academy production has a huge bearing on luck. For every one player that makes it 1000 don't, and the difference at that age is minimal, sometimes the better players don't shine, and you've gone with another. It's a lottery at times, and probably one of the hardest things in football to get right.
It also helps when you don't have Willie Donachie in charge of your bairns.
What's the average age in the reserves these days? I'll take a wild guess at 20
He's not, he's in charge of the reserves not youth.
Won't help their development though.
Eh? When they get to that age they should be out on loan, therefore the problem doesn't lie with the reserve manager.

Mind - I'm watching the Swansea v Arsenal game and how the hell Arsenal haven't scored 6 or 7 again here....everything they do against Swansea is staying out, whereas against us, everything went IN.
It IS a luck thing, and everything is going against us. ESPECIALLY the number of incompetent homer refs like yesterdays clown. But the mentality has to be stopped and we need points.
(of course the atrocious defensive mess for Brighton's second say it's more than bad luck too)
SO how do you go about changing your luck?
In football terms you start by aiming to get a clean sheet. Should have been our only aim yesterday. Keep a clean sheet and either take it to a replay or nick it at some point.

Hard to see an end to Ashley's spell at the club - would take very big bucks to get rid of him and I can't see any likely source of that.
The Qataris are our best hope but they will just wait until things are REALLY in a mess - like heading for relegation - so they can screw Ashley for the best deal....in fact, we could be in the Championship before there is a change of owner.
This reminds me of when Villa had Doug Ellis and their fans were desperate to get rid of him but it took years...at least they got Lerner, we got rid of Shepherd and got Ashley...
The only decent thing he has done is to take on the club's debt.
Fuck the Qataris man. Don't want them anywhere near this club.

Good post Mick. Lescott would be perfect for that CB spot

Not sure how anyone can predict anything other than a defeat, we just do not win football matches away from home.
Because another loss here, with most of our first team players back, is just about catastrophic. Can't bear to think about another defeat man

Krul
Debuchy Taylor Coloccini Santon
Anita Bigirimana
Marveaux Cabaye Obertan
Cisse
If we put this side out, we'll win big imo.

The first XI assembled under him here is very good. If he could get a decent manager in I think I would be pretty happy with how things are going (all the ridiculousness of the past aside). In fact with a good manager I think we would have everything that a non-super rich club could hope to have in terms of the premier league.
Trouble is he won't get a good manager in any time soon and if he does it will probably involve an immense slice of luck. I think this undermines any real claims that can me made of the summer representing a missed opportunity for 'kicking on' up the league. I'm not saying we shouldn't have bought defenders, we should have done but what's the rush really. We haven't won anything since 1969 and that wouldn't have changed with Mike Williamson being demoted to 4th choice centre back and Danny Simpson being made second choice right back.
For me the real shame is that for all the talk of a long term plan the youth side of things seems to be a shambles. The coaching structure seems incredibly ad hoc and there is no tangible footballing blue-print running through the lower levels.
Absolutely stunning post

Serious question. Does anybody who defended Shola starting think that Campbell and Ranger aren't capable of playing better than Shola has so far?
I know shola is capable of scoring if he does come out, he's also just as capable of carrying on the way that he has so far.
Both reserves should have started this game. No doubt at all. Shola is NOT a starting player. It's so fucking blatantly obvious, and it's fucking moronic to think that he will bring anything to the team from the first whistle.

This cunt still around?

Our lack of cohesion is really beginning to get on my tits

The thing that concerns me is that almost irrespective of the quality of players out there, we look all over the place. There's little discernable shape or pattern of play.

That's robbery by the uruguayan scouser. Rodgers shouldn't have risked him on such a pitch, and now he goes and bundles one in with his hand. Watch the big Mansfield centre half mangle him.
