  1.

I keep hearing on the radio/tv that a director of football can work on the continent, but never in England. No one seems to mention the reasoning behind that, but rather spew that phrase out like a stale and rotting cliche.

Im not saying it can or cannot work. But anyone care to explain the reasoning behind it working on the continent but not in the premier league?

  2. So, here we are.

IMO in many ways Ashley is an unfit owner and it's not a debate about whether his heart is in the right place or money. IMO he's hired a bunch of cronies while neglecting his key asset Kevin Keegan.

This is the bunch of cronies who negotiatied the £12m fee for Milner yes? What a bunch of wasters...

Yes but these wasters replaced Milner (one of our hardest-working players) with what? Our club might be 12m richer but our squad is seriously depleted.

BTW I would have taken 10m for Milner IF we had a decent replacement lined up.

We did bring in 6 players this summer as well as selling, including IMO the most important, a striker who can play when Viduka has his feet up. I would agree though, that the squad is still not strong enough - even if it might turn out to be better than some are giving it credit for.

That's correct. It's easy to forget that we've managed to get rid of some serious dross with our outgoing transfers (Ramage, Baba, Carr, Emre, Roz), who have been replaced with players who - so far- look like actual footballers.

    Jonas

    Guthrie

    Coloccini

    Bassong

    Xisco

    Nacho

IYAM the outlay has been reasonable, and the fee we got for Milner was way too good to turn down. Our summer business could have been better, but was not all that bad by any stretch. What we need now is for the entire squad of players to pull together, rally around Keegan, the fans and the club, and play for the shirt. Any shortage in playing staff at any point or another can be covered by the one or two youngsters who are closest to being ready for the first team. This IMO is also a good thing, as its pointless to have these young players around the place, without having the opportunity to test them in the big time once in a while. Do people forget who Man U had to rely on in our opening game to cover for their injuries? Campbell, Possebon, Rafael?

We're not in as bad a position as some will have you believe.

  3.

hmmmm....i don't see it that way

i think how this Keegan situation is resolved will tell us a lot about Mike Ashley. If he shows that he is learning from his mistakes, and willing to rectify them - and let's face it, we all knew he was never a football man - then it's a great sign, and it counts as a positive thing. If however he does not learn from mistakes, and does not take steps to correct his position (as one Freddy Shepherd miserably failed to do), then he will also be deemed unfit to run this club.

the events of the next few days will tell us a lot about Mike Ashley. A lot more than this entire past year has told us.

  4. I can't believe what a circus we are and how we fans have been lied too.

Wasn't Owen offered a new contract? Now they're saying they tried to sell him?

Didn't Keegan say selling Milner was his decision? Now they're saying he wasn't happy?

And which credible team with ambitions will put their entire team up on the market?

    What a joke we are.

the bigger joke? fans actually believing this drivel

  5. I wasn't particularly in favour of KK coming back - i saw it as a populist sop by an owner desperate to please fans at a club that he did not understand.

But Ashley have proven himself to be a f***ing joke, and an utter cretin, in a number of different ways, way beyond the appointment of a man he then hamstrung from the outset. FFS was also a c***, but at least he backed his managers. Ashley had f***ed it right up.

If Dennis Wise is in charge for the Hull game, which is mooted as a possibility, i'll not be going, and if he is put in place longer term, i'm cancelling my DD, offering the club the difference had i just got one years worth of tickets, and f***ing off. Whilst the club is always more important than the owner or manager, nowadays the club is increasingly defined by them, and i can't say i want much to do with a club that has Dennis f***ing Wise as a senior member of staff.

good. i'll have the DD NM.

  6. Regardless of what it is that he actually does for the club, he's always come across as a horrible little t***

i've been told i come across as a horrible little twat as well. but i guarantee you, once you get to know me, you'll see i'm just a regular nice guy

  7. Howay lads...... pull yourselves together.

We still dont know what happened, they way this forums been today, you'd think the bloke could walk across the pond in Leazes Park.

I for one have had enough of nuggets outside SJP with banners, old clips of 'that' rant and slow motion vids of geordies biting their nails in epic games.

Whats happened?  Have we turned scouse?

Look forward, its the only way we can go!

top post!! i'm with you mate! quit sobbing you softshites and look ahead. no man should get more than what they deserve. not keegan, not shearer, not ashley, not SJH, no one. This is a football club, and everything that goes on is just part of its history.

  8. Just thought I'd say, think the stick he's got today has been pathetic and uncalled for. He may not be everyones cup of tea, but this has nothing to do with him. This looks between Ashley, KK, and Llambias to sort out, so let's back off Wise a bit.

    Bollocks!

I hate the little cockney t***, and it shows a total lack of understanding of NUFC and football in general that Ashley appointed him in the first place.

sorry like, but that's as stupid a post as they come

  9. How the hell could they sack Keegan?!

Because despite what people with their heads in the sand may think, going by bids we've made and players who've turned us down, we had the money available, and he didn't attract anyone of note with it.

What are you on about you fuckwit!? Keegan hasn't had any involvement with transfers. That's one of the major problems with this setup.

I know emotions are running wild this morning, but can we all still keep the insults at bay please? Ta.

some of the mods would do well to heed your advice

  10. That'll teach Man City to grab the headlines. We're number one and they should not forget it.

f*** me why has it always got to be difficult. Give me a Steve Gibson any day of the week. If Wise takes over we'll be a laughing stock.

    Spot on there pal!

You have to ask the big question at this stage though, which is would Wise work with Terry Mac?

No. I don't think he would. But for one thing, at least a silver lining in appointing Wise would hopefully see the end of Terry fucking Mac at this club at long last.

  11. David Grey on SSN:  Word is leaking out, the belief that KK is no longer the manager.  No official confirmation, but word from the training ground is he's gone.  If not correct they will have to soon issue statement, but it's believed he's gone.  Some suggestions, "well informed" that KK made representations not taken as he thought they'd be and they may have called his bluff

    english please?
