Any ideas? I think just a simple red no.9 would be easiest tbh.

Guess the old saying 'if you don't buy a ticket you wont win the raffle' could apply to that. I agree with oldtype, though. It seems that this idea/fantasy of Ashley's has collapsed since we got relegated. As someone said, it would cost money to do that and considering he obviously doesn't want to hang around here why should he bother? Loanies and freebies will keep us happy for the moment, sure.... Doesn't have to cost millions if you build up links with top clubs in obscure leagues and then use what they have. Palacios, Figeuroa and D.Suazo all played for the same club in Honduras for example. True, maybe I meant it takes effort However, to run a global scouting network- or even a couple of continents- it takes time and money. But as they say, its all about knowing the right people...

Obviously your not going to succeed everyone time, it doesn't work like that. But you've got to keep trying if you want to be the best. It's alway going to be hit and miss in football, but when its a hit you'll reap the rewards 10 times over. And as for the Nacho fiasco- well obviously our hierachy were going to get slated for it; we weren't buying him to improve the team, it was for a bloody agent! You don't see Arsenal, Man Utd or Everton doing that! What we need to be doing is bring in well researched players who are seen to having the potential ability- physically/techniqually and mentally- to play for Newcastle United. Smart little signings like Steven Pienaar- £3m from Borussia Dortmund- or Brede Hangeland (no more than a million) which all turn into solid, key players for their respective teams. Instead, we've gone for the Luque's, Owen's, Boumsong's, Duff's etc. However, by the end of this window I think we'll properly discover whether Chris has an eye for a bargain. IMO he's done quite well prior to June; Williamson, Routledge, Van Aanholt and Lovenkrands.

My aim/future ambitions pretty much mirror the ones of Chris and TheGuv. I'm looking to move to Newcastle College next year to do the Certificate in Higher Education (Football) and then move onto Applied Sports Science and Coaching. America's also been on my mind but first things first, eh?! I live in Dublin and have completed the FAI Kick Start 1 and Kick Start 2 courses. KS1 is very, very basic....you can't fail it; full attendance is all that's needed. To be perfectly honest, it just teaches you a few fun games for the kids and basically how to avoid being branded a paedophile. It's only takes a day to complete (roughly 9am-4pm). KS2 is quite a difference. Like KS1, full attendance is all thats needed to progress. Its for one weekend over 3 days (Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday till lunchtime) but is much more intense with a lot more information to take in and it actually teaches you how to teach the children the right techniques etc. Small sided games, ball skills, conditioning/warm ups and possession play is all taught whilst how to deal with players and their personal lifes etc. You are assessed minorly- split into groups, given a certain topic to work on and each person demonstrates an exercise within it. It's not too hard tbh. Not sure how it compares to the FA Level 2 course- that appears to be much more extensive and indepth. In Ireland the coaching ladder is: Kick Start 1 -----> Kick Start 2 -----> Youth Certificate ------> UEFA 'B' -----> UEFA 'A' -----> Pro Licence I'm planning to start helping out coaching the under 5's-under 7's at my local club for the next year and then hopefully move over to Newcastle and get some experience with a few teams whilst doing my course(s)! Fingers crossed.

Sweet! Cheers mate, think I'll go for the 9!
-
Aye that would look good. Just like the old fashioned tops used to look like. No name just a number. It looks really good on my 60's TOFF's shirt. Can't find a link with the number though I'm going to order the Fairs Cup winning shirt off Toffs soon and want to get a number on the back but haven't a clue what it would look like. Is it red numbering with a patch or what?
-
The mock-up from TU is pretty impressive- one or two tweaks and we're there. Now this may sound slightly ambitious/running before we can walk, but how about every shirt has a red no.9 on the back of it? Its certainly a symbolic number to NUFC which carries a lot of pride and heritage to it as we all know. It might be a step too far and collide with the 'keeping it simple' option (which I agree with) but I think it should be something to keep in mind...

Not really. It looks like what it is, somebody who is exploring the possibility of offering supporters a way of wearing their team’s colours whilst raising some money for a good cause while they’re at it. Any confusion is all in your head. The Newcastle replica kit was poorly designed and overpriced long before Ashley arrived - symbolic of the exploitation of supporter’s loyalty. The contempt of Puma’s design team may be the catalyst of for this idea, but football clubs have been taking the piss for years. Sticking the club crest on any old bit of tat and saying ‘that’ll be fifty quid’. Whether he succeds or not, I applaud Kaizero for taking the initiative - and fart in the general direction of those who nitpick instead of getting behind a worthwhile idea. Well said mate, I was thinking the same thing. A big to Kaizero!

The Umbro emblem and the badge are both stitched, and the sponsor isn't plastic - although it is ironed on. It's a cut above ours, like all the Umbro/Puma comparisons. Bugger. Stitched badge is a must IMO.

I'd definitely buy one of these. Knowing it would not go towards Ashley's pocket would be a nice feeling also (that's aside from the SBR foundation, obviously). As people have suggested, keep the shirt neat with one or two retro additions such as the blue star and/or coat of arms etc it would be a big hit I'm sure.

Actually, does anyone know where I could find a long sleeve version of the banana kit?
-
Says in the Sun article he was released, mate.
-
Agreed. Its possibly the laziest piece of journalism I've ever seen!

Aaron Spear?

From the Chron:

But we don't have a player who can play through the centre with a left foot like his that can create something out of nothing- he offers a spark to the team. Obviously he's not Maradona or anything, but compared to what we've got going forward he's pretty good. I think he'd be a canny partner for someone like Carroll.
-
Its a fair point, like. As you said, Krul is in definite need of a run of games so I think a loan move for the season to the Championship (example) would suit everyone.
-
If we signed: Onouha Cleverly McFadden Perch I reckon we'd be doing ok.
-
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
-
Yup. I'm ordering the 69 Fairs Cup shirt off Toffs. Lovely jersey...
-
Yes. Very.

Could be a soon to be departure in the works?

Its good to see we're starting early(ish).

Think I'm gonna come over for the Blackpool game on the 11th of September. Want to book tickets in Level 7 as going off this thread it seems great craic! I want to sing my heart out for the lads. Where is the best place to stand in L7?
