He's been nowhere in this game until it was put on a plate for him. He's a finisher and nothing else. He'll score the occasional sweet finish but other than that he's done at the top level. Put on a plate. In the sense that he was put through by Milner. It's not like he crafted that chance himself. Turned and finished, that's the extent of what he did there. Not good enough at international level in my opinion. I don't disagree that he's not top level on a consistent basis. But you're using an example where he cut inside, made the space for the shot from 20 yards and smashed it in the top corner. It was hardly a great ball from Milner either. It was all about Defoe's quality.

And that's Defoe summed up in 5 minutes.

On his day he is still fucking lethal in front of goal.

You mean just like Man City did the other day by signing Rodwell? I know they did, they're both at it. I feel I need to blog these thoughts...

Are they purposefully going for the worst players and biggest crocks going? Someone must have set O'Neill up. Surely.

Young, plays for Spurs. Ticks all the boxes. Wait, did I hear Marco Gabbiadini's name?

Man Utd don't need Van Persie. IMO all it is is an attempt to get one over on Man City who were linked with him for a while. Ferguson's usually pretty wise with his big value transfers but it does strike me a bit as "shit, Man City have overtaken us, quick, buy RVP!" Don't get me wrong, he's class and him and Rooney will be devastating in a fair few games. But he's not really what Man Utd need.

Considering Spurs are infamous for getting good prices for their outgoing players, they're being fucked over only getting £23m for Modric. Great business for Real Madrid.

Dunno what this signing players jazz is about.
  12. Have to say I never thought he was class. Decent player who enjoyed some good form at Bolton but nothing remarkable. His footballing ability though is obviously second place to the fact he is it seems remarkably lucky to be alive.
  13. Shame but inevitable. Hopefully he can retain some sort of position in the game.
  14. Over 9.5 Smart bet. Actually had a 6 fold, £3 would've returned £100. Only Chesterfield let me down I thought, but had Derby too so slightly less annoyed. 5-5 ffs.
  15. Derby 5-5 Scunthorpe, Derby were 4-1 up but Scunthorpe scored twice in the last 2 minutes of injury time.
  16. If anyone had Derby.

A month ago I recall laughing on here at those who thought Sunderland were in danger of going down. Consider my thoughts retracted.

Sadly, Man City issued a modicum of common sense to the situation.

2 or so years ago there was absolutely no doubt in my mind Rodwell would become a top-class English midfielder for many, many years. First choice in the England team, and one of the very best in the Premier League. Now, I'm not so sure. He has the world at his feet with his natural ability but injuries and frankly his attitude are worries. I hope he realises his potential. He certainly has age on his side, anyway.
