  1. Tonight is the most impressed I've been with us in arguably years. We've played better, but we very rarely ever show the ability to be clinical. Play like that and I'm not exaggerating to say I think we can beat any team in this competition. Basically did the archetypal "classic away performance" - something we really don't do usually. Other teams may have better players but I don't think many teams would want to play us. Pissing a group with Wolfsburg (2nd in Bundesliga and in great form) and Lille (finished, what, 4th last year? Albeit in poorer form this year) is no mean feat. Would happily sacrifice European qualification this year for a big run in this tournament this year. That said I really don't see why we shouldn't be looking at finishing top 6 again given the troubles everyone is having (not that we've been particularly good in the league by any stretch of the imagination.) Our squad may not be littered with stars but we have enough good players to not be overly stretched by fighting on both fronts, injuries aside. Martinez has been playing arguably stronger squads in Europe than in the league.
  2. If I was still in Year 4 I'd be ashamed if I was finishing like some of these players. Inexplicably terrible.
  3. On the theory that South American football is for whatever reason proving more profitable than major European leagues currently... BTTS at Sao Paulo and Cruzeiro.
  4. Would laugh my fucking head off if Basel snatch a late, completely undeserved draw at Anfield. Going through on 7 points, fluky fucking wankers.
  5. Even as a massive Messi fanboy myself, it's a hell of a push to say he was class. Moments of brilliance obviously but the 2014 World Cup was ultimately a disappointment and won't be near the top of the reasons people will claim he's the greatest.
  6. The World Cup wasn't enough of a motivation then? Nah, it's definitely a decline in consistency. Can still be unstoppable on his day, but he doesn't do it as regularly as he used to which is completely understandable. But Cronaldo seems to be getting stronger and stronger. Worth reminding ourselves that we are talking in the context of being the greatest ever, of course. He's just fucking stupidly mint.
  7. That can NOT be real.
  8. Pretty sure he's misplaced all of them since I said that.
  9. Schneiderlin has a great range of passing.
  10. Played Liverpool away on TV on the opening weekend. Don't recall them being on since then. They're on next weekend as well, mind.
  11. GC, beyond being labelled as you "doing a Spurs", do you think the likes of Markovic and Can will succeed in your team? Also please for your own sake drop Johnson. An embarrassment of a defender.
  12. Let's be honest, he's been finished for a while now in terms of being an important player in a "top 4" side. They're living in the past (no surprises there...) by refusing to drop him. Pure sentiment keeping him there. He's saved by the odd game he bothers to give a shit and is given carte blanche protection from the media. More often than not it's a boost for the opposition when they see his name in the line-up.
  13. The sooner they drop Gerrard, the better. The better for them, anyway. Keep him in, please.
  14. Have to say your game seemed rather tasty...Is there history between the sets of teams/players? Or just one of those games that sparked off? Tomkins LOL. What a twat. Not enough to justify why such tackles were going in, think it just escalated really. Glad we're capable of winning without playing brilliantly, it's usually us playing well and not winning.

  16. Assuming it's already been mentioned, but some fucking violent challenges this weekend. Dunno what our players were on.
  17. For no justifiable reason I think Villa will get something.
