But is he not challenged by the fact Schar makes a back for him?
The rule states you cannot challenge the goalkeeper (not challenge for the ball), he’s made it difficult for the keeper and therefore challenged him?
I think (pure guessing here) the challenge refers to once he has the ball and not before necessarily
So Schar challenged at first and then didn't, that's then when Pope dropped it
-
Yeah, Schar didn't challenge him which is the difference
-
So it was the right decision but it feels wrong

Below is the law
"A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball with the hand(s) when:
the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface (e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands or arms except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save
holding the ball in the outstretched open hand
bouncing it on the ground or throwing it in the air
A goalkeeper cannot be challenged by an opponent when in control of the ball with the hand(s)."

VAR can fuck off, ridiculous decision. So if a defender had a foot on the ball, but their player smashed it in, it would be disallowed? Would it fuck!
I mean the rules for keepers being in control of the ball doesn't apply to defenders
But that is a bollocks of a decision
-
I dislike Villa so happy it was overturned but that just feels wrong
-
I'd be interested to know what the law states
There is no way he has control of the ball like
-
It's been disallowed

Looks offside

Canny poor from Schmeichel

Villa take the lead, 2-1

Massive for Leeds that, and good for us as well, Brentford can still get dragged into the fight, did not want them getting 3 points.
Brentford have Watford next though
Think we need a Brentford win really, though draw wouldn't be the worst I guess

I agree we should get a new keeper if we stay up, but I’m not a massive Henderson fan.
Same, he looked incredibly average at times in that run he had last season
He's a better version of Darlow for me
I would like us to get a commanding keeper

I don’t think anyone is suggesting that. More so just disappointed there is not a PL game to watch at 2pm.
It’s the same as rugby for me. It’s a crap sport that I have no interest in and if there was no PL game being shown at a time to make way for a rugby match, I’d be disappointed by that too.
Not liking women’s football doesn’t necessarily equal sexism.
Agreed
I find the standard so bad it's of no interest to me
Having said that not having a top level team to follow probably plays a part, if the Newcastle team was in say the top league I'd probably watch them here and there, and want them to do well assuming the matches didn't clash with matches I'd want to watch

Still on a 9. I am more relaxed after the 3 points and especially the cleansheet. Our football wasn't great at times but we created enough chances to win a game and were resolute in defence.
We have 4 tough fixtures coming next. If we manage 4 to 6 points then I might move from a 9 to a 7.
I really don't see 4-6 points
Think it's 2 points at best (obviously Howe won't be thinking like that and rightly so)
However if we get 4-6 points then staying on a 7 makes no sense
-
Don't think it will ever work for him in a midfield 2, especially if we are playing 4 at the back
Need to get an extra midfielder in and let him play with a bit more freedom
-
If we had gotten 6 points from the last 2 games I would have been at a 7 but the 4 points puts me on 8.
For me the 8 stays as long as we are no more than 6 points adrift come January
-
Thought he was poor early on (who wasn't) but played better as the game on, was involved a lot when we were really putting them under pressure
-
Need City to beat Watford and suddenly things don't seem too disastrous
If we can stay within 6 points of safety by the transfer window we have a chance
-
That midfield pairing with 4 at the back is a concern but I suppose this isn't the time for a safety approach, a must win game so we need to really come out of the blocks

Would love to believe he meant that but...
Definitely a cross, took a defection

On his podcast Wilson mentioned in pre-season he looks for the fittest person in the squad and tries to keep up with him, he said Lewis was that person and he was flying
-
I really hope Man-U don't win, want them to cry about that perfectly legitimate goal
-
I'm baffled that is even being labelled as controversial
As clear a goal as you will see and suggestions of Arsenal giving a goal back is utterly ridiculous
