He’s only 28? In the last 18 months of his contract, and (supposedly) currently earning less wages (£100kpw) than Bruno. I’m not his biggest fan, but if the club were interested in signing him, now’s a great time.
Not to get involved in the classic age debate but he's 29 in a few days, though I didn't realise he was on such a relatively low wage
I just assumed being Chelsea he was on silly money, if that's the case then I'd say it's a no brainer
-
Kovacic is not crap, he's excellent at carrying the ball forward and even in playing progressive passes
I suspect though we'll be targeting players that are younger and likely to command less wages than him
-
Chelsea are so shite they are just playing Arsenal into form
-
He should get a ban and if it was most other managers it would be nailed on
This is where having lots of Liverpool sympathisers in the media helps as they aren't scathing towards him acting like a prick
-
Leicester are lucky they don't have Ward in net, they'd be losing if they had him
-
So we want a Coventry and Millwall win on the final day
Or a Sunderland draw/loss would just make it easier I guess
-
Missed it at the match and the highlights didn't show it but what was Joelinton booked for?
He's now on 12, needs to be careful to avoid getting to 15

Isn’t it 6 points we need because of our GD?
Potentially but if Liverpool win all their remaining games then that GD could be negated, they've shown they are capable of handing out a thrashing
Just got to hope if they are winning then it's only by a single goal like their last 2 matches

K. Thuram looks a like real talent though imo.
I would love for us to sign him, since we've been linked I've watched him a few times
He's not just a sitting midfielder, he's quite dynamic so would give us options to play about that midfield rather than someone who would just sit as a pure 6

As I said, unless I've tricked myself in the way I worded it in the post you quoted, he needs to be given time to settle into a new club with new team mates, new coaches, new system, new culture etc etc.
I don't think his age is something we should use to argue that he was never supposed to do better from the start though. 22 is not young in world of football, and in terms of experience he has played a lot at this level for someone his age. This is his fourth season of playing PL football.
Admittedly I've not followed the discussion from the start so might have missed something but Grealish was 26 when he joined City, he was underwhelming in his first season and it's only now that he's started to really play well and at the level he was expected to
In comparison 21 is nothing and Gordon's experience has mostly been battling relegation so not a positive experience
-
Not sure I agree with those saying he was by far the bets player in the first half, you don't be by far the best and get taken off at half time (he ended the half on the right so Murphy could have been taken off if Gordon was that good)
I thought he did okay in moments and should have scored/assisted with the chances he had
Overall I'd say he's been okay, nothing special but anyone writing him off is being very hasty, Howe has barely worked with him so only fair to give him that opportunity. We often see with Pep/City how players (especially attacking players) don't start to play at their best until the second season and I don't see this being any different
If this time next year Gordon is as he is now then I'd be concerned
-
I thought he was still good in the first half, even if he was poor for their goal, was always in space to receive the ball
Second half like a few games he really stepped it up and was really good
The skill he did right at the end to lift it over the Southampton player was lush, though annoyingly the highlights missed it out (If anyone has a link to it then please share)

There's no way Liverpool will overturn the GD. They've got Fulham, Brentford and Villa still to play and none of those teams are poor defensively.
Leicester have improved but obviously do concede a fair amount of goals and then obviously last day of the season, Southampton could well capitulate entirely. But that's a huge ask to win every single game and have a +2GD win each time they do.
Well, in this doom and gloom scenario they just really need to batter one team (plausible) and we will lose more games than we win so our GD will take a knock
It would have been nice for them to drop points today and would be nice they drop some in their next two fixtures but I'm not expecting that to be the case
Ultimately we know what we need to do to finish ahead of them and that's what we need to focus on

To be fair to Gary O'Neil, everyone and their dog had Bournemouth nailed to go down when he took over there and he's steered them to safety with games to spare.
They've still taken some hammerings but he's done well to get the points in early.
He's done a brilliant job, especially when you consider the circumstances he got it
They got battered 9-0 and Parker said they are shite and done
Ouattara was a good signing for them in January

So annoying, so close to being a class result for us

Should have known Spurs would be Spursy

Romero on that list is a weird one too. Swear he's been rubbish all season
Can only assumed it's due to the World Cup

I bloody care like and I think deep down all of us do.
Aye we know we're a bigger club than them, and if they do come up we'll probably beat them home and away, and we're going go be in the Champions League. But fucking hell, I don't want them bastards having the ecstasy of a wembley play off win
I don't want them having that awesome summer celebrating knowing their back in the Prem.
Even if they go straight back down, I want them miserable knowing they've got another season in the Championship, don't want them having any happiness at all.
If we get CL football that will be them devastated
-
So ideally we need Boro to let Coventry draw and then one of Millwall/Blackburn to win

They wouldn’t though they need milwall to not win.
They'll finish ahead of Coventry though, as they'll lose to Boro
-
Their games seem to go on forever when they are drawing/losing

That's a pathetic cross from Benrahma right at the end

What's annoying for them clubs is that when they cooked up the "fair market value" bullshit, they hadn't envisaged us finishing in the top 4 so quick.
Ironically, when we finish 3rd... we should be scrutinising Spurs and Chelseas next commercial deals.
"Hold on, Spurs and Chelsea finished in 7th and 10th, there's no way they should be getting so much money."
Could backfire rather quickly.
This is exactly it, this season has shocked them
When Spurs get £40m there is absolutely no way they can object to £25m, it's very modest actually

Watching the Schar "goal" you can see Burn doesn't head it, though at that point he is in an offside position, does that still make it offside even though Schar collecting the ball and then taking his shot was the next phase of play?
Other games (2024/25)

City and Fulham win (or even draw) would do nicely
But not expecting Fulham to even get close to a point, Liverpool will easily deal with them
