  1. Can I not and just say I did?
  2. I do feel sorry for the producers of that shit. It was always overproduced pap, but genuinely suspenseful as a fan to see your group drawn in real time. Now the new format has made that impossible, and you're just watching a reveal of fixture lists that an algorithm generated the day before.
  3. Honestly if it is a shorter deal, that would've surely been at our behest. He is 29 tomorrow and this will be the most lucrative contract of his career (in Europe at least...) Any player with even a half competent agent is going to want that contract term stretched out for as long as possible.
  4. The shorter deal can also work in our favour if he is only seen as a stop gap for a couple of seasons. Makes it more likely we realise a profit on the other side as his book value will be significantly lower compared to if it was spread out over the full 5 years.
  5. The same Ian Rush who couldn't flee Liverpool fast enough after their fans murdered 39 Italians and got the club banned from European Competion?
  6. The Athletic behind the scenes article on this is going to be top notch. Is this the shortest non resignation/interim tenure... anywhere?
  7. HE. ONLY. WANTED. NEWCASTLE Look forward to waking up tomorrow to the push notification from the Athletic that we bought Andy Carroll back as an Under 23 player/coach.
  8. Maybe i'm overdosing on the hopium and it's purely just a slam dunk PSR deal (which I am a-ok with at that price)... but this feels like clearing the decks for a run at one last purple in the closing hours.
  9. Luckily we also sold into the Market we're buying in, so we rinsed Liverpool for Isak which makes it square. Right? Halp.
  10. Most modern contracts have a bonus payable when a player is sold or the contract expires, but it is voided if the player officially asks to leave. Either they forced him to submit him a formal transfer request before they would approve the deal (Mike Ashley did the same thing to Carroll before he stuck him on the helicopter to Scouser Town) or Isak agreed to waive it.
  11. It's a bit misleading. He's a definitely a forward, but he played in a 4-4-fucking-2 for a lot of the year, and was the second striker the rest. So it's also not unreasonable to question if he is going to just be able slot into the Number 9 role.
  12. Eddie's Brexit Army. In this case, I think it was needed - we've already spent a big wad of cash on a young, unproven talent from overseas. Wissa should hopefully be the Wilson to Woltemades Isak.
  13. Even by the low, low 2025 standards, throwing a strop and going on strike is a tad much when you were only signed 62 days ago.
  14. Guy is getting 10% of Isak, but going to risk it all for a fucking watch and an iPad.
  15. Sandro isn't going anywhere The Support the Team, not the Regime veterans have assured us this does not set any precedent whatsoever.
  16. I say 0% because no player ever has - even the sagas that have gotten as toxic (or even more deranged) than this one. There is too much money at stake, and players know how fast the game moves. There is no 350k a week contract waiting for you when you've voluntarily sat on the couch for 12 months and you're a year older. Suitors either move on or low ball you.
  17. There was no PSR gun. The austerity had put us in a strong position and there was a 0% chance the stirke would've extended past tomorrow. If we sign Wissa for the 65m range that eats up the majority of the PSR benefit anyway since there is no resale value.
  18. I've said this probably a dozen times in this thread - but there are no examples of a player strike extending past the transfer window. Every single time either the deal is done or they come back from the cold. No matter how toxic the situation.
  19. Coutinho downed tools and faked an injury to miss half a dozen Premier League games whilst still being magically fit for Brazil. Liverpool still managed to make it work for 6 more months and doubled his transfer fee compared to what Barca initially bid... a fee we couldn't even match despite 7 years of mental transfer inflation.
  20. Because transfers of this nature are planned well in advanced - even for the likes of Madrid and Bayern. The common assumption was that he would make his move next summer, which for the club would've been optimal considering Lewandowski would be turning 38 and Kane would he approaching his mid 30s at a Bayern team looking to get younger.
  21. The bit that doesn't add up is Ornstein saying the deal is worth 130m... but Liverpool paid 125m? Or is it just poorly worded and he meant that Liverpool paid 5m as the solidarity component?
  22. Even he fucking wins since he got the breaking story. He'll be bragging about it in the Bruce Family Whatsapp group for weeks.
  23. I think we need to see how this shakes out I guess. Right now I'm in the "we've fucked up and next summer we're going to get picked to the bone Dortmund style" - but I am also leaving the door ajar for them to have another cracking signing or two up their sleeve that can rescue this. My main copium being that all of our major moves (Tonali, Woltemade, Isak) have had zero media buzz until the deal was virtually done. But for now... Alexa play Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.
  24. I just don't see how Wissa makes sense unless there is serious compromise on the Brentford side - the PSR black hole he'll create would eliminate most of the 90 million-ish we just created with Isak. Larsen you could at least sell at a loss and still break even on through this glorified accountancy simulator doen the line
