What do you mean? What could be the long term repercussions of openly advertising to clubs that all they need to do is cause a bit of a stink via Twitter shills.. sorry, "journalists" and we'll cave on selling our best players at a favourable price. No way the likes of Real Madrid or PSG going for Tonali in 12 months time would ever read anything into that.

There are zero examples of a player keeping their strike going past the end of a transfer window. The closest is Tevez, but his little drama started post the window and was an on field falling out. Either one of the selling or buying team caves on the price or the want away player comes back and plays as well as normal, as if it never happened.

Tbf those two scenarios are the exact model the club is following. Like a toddler throwing a tantrum, don't antagonise or escalate, just politely but firmly wait it all out until they have no choice but to behave again. We've released the one statement as needed, other than that Eddie has been consistent in playing the whole thing with a straight bat whenever he is pressed, with the players disciplined in their response.

I seem to recall you trotting out this line when we signed Isak. #awks

0 chance. Newcastle he is fairly well indulged and is running the show re: the squad. As dysfunctional as NUFC is do you really think he wants to trade that for a significantly worse squad, a fan base with expectations stuck in 1999 and Jim Ratcliffe overuling him? The big risk is England next year.

My only fear is that we weren't respectful and lodged the bid before Stuttgart invited us.

All whilst jacking themselves silly still for ultimately getting the full 142 million for Coutinho eight years ago... which they achieved by telling Barcelona to fuck off for 6 straight months and strong arming the player to end his strike for the interim. In the name of fairness I'm happy to take that deal, add 8 years of transfer market inflation and shake on it.

He has all the attributes to be one of Howe's favourite foot soliders in terms of his play style... but he is an absolute headcase, and not in the Bruno "will literally take a bullet for you because you leant him 50p once back in Primary School" kind of way that is ultimately good for a team.

Tbf the last time the Mackems had this kind of saga was Gyan... and they let him go for the price they paid in the end.
