  1. Well I care about world peace, and chocolate, and brotherhood of man (not the group), and equity in sport, and the community of football fans too. But when it comes to trophies I just want us to win everything. That’s not too much to ask, is it?
  2. I've said it before and I'll say it again, all I really care about is Spurs. Given that occasionally there's going to be the odd trophy we don't win, I'd much rather it go to a team whose victory is massively devalued before it happens. That used to be Chelsea, now it's Man City. I never really got riled up by Man U winning because when I was growing up in North London, you were Spurs, Arsenal, or a soulless glory-hunting prick Liverpool, essentially. Man U were irrelevant.
  3. I think that’s my bat-signal to come in and comment on money in football again (although since i’m Spurs, maybe it should be cock-signal?). There was someone who wrote in on the BBC after the Wolves match saying “that’s the difference between Liverpool and Spurs, Liverpool wouldn’t lose to Wolves” or some such. Well sure, I guess, but the real difference between Liverpool and Spurs comes down to money. Keeper a bit iffy? Buy a new one for 60M+. Lacking energy in midfield? Buy somebody else for 40M. Hang on, he’s not all that. Buy a new guy for 60M. We’re a bit dodgy at the back? Buy a guy for 80M. And this is Liverpool, not the true comedy acts of Man City or Chelsea. It’s just so weird being a football fan of any club outside the top table - which apparently definitively includes us as we’re not in that group invited to be founder members of this European League. There is just no way I can take criticism from any fan of the elite seriously. Sooner or later, money will out, and everything else just seems like pissing in the wind. I’m lucky enough to be in the US now, and American Football feels like a breath of fresh air (not something you’ll often hear over here). The idea that competitive balance on the pitch is primarily a function of player selection and coaching is like heaven. They’ve already managed to fuck up competitive balance in baseball though. I just feel sad. I still get childlike joy when we win, and childish depression when we lose (avoided football completely between Wolves and Cardiff - thank God for the Cleveland Browns, something else you don’t often hear over here). I should grow out of it, but it’s more than the club to me, it’s the community I grew up in and with - like Sifu. It’s just harder and harder to take. Spurs fans have been blessed in recent years, but even if we somehow cross that bridge to the stars something has been irrevocably lost.
  4. at that price massively worth the gamble Yup. We’ve been after hm for ages, like we were after Willian, Barkley etc. *sigh*
  5. There's some discussion about this guy on Spurs sites - I'd never come across him before this last couple of days. Clearly not right in the head. Apparently he's been booted out of a couple of Spurs fan groups in the past. Got loads of awful vids online supposedly.
  6. Still not sure how anybody can say 5 or more, given that you're five points clear of the bottom three with a far better goal difference, and only one of the five teams below you look like turning things around right now. I could see Burnley remembering how to play again, but even then you're left with Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield going down, which looks like the likeliest eventuality. I'd have you at a 3 right now. I think Cardiff and Huddersfield are done, and the last place is between the six other clubs below West Ham. So that's 1.7, plus a bit because I think Brighton, Palace and Southampton have enough about them to pick up wins. 3 sounds about right, and we can re-assess in February.
  7. Here's the thing. I have always hated Liverpool because I supported Spurs through the end of the 70s and then all of the 80s. But even if I didn't, I want Man City to win everything until we start doing so. I don't want to spread any glory around, and if Man City win anything then there's not all that much glory attached to it anyway.
  8. Managed to have both Kane and Salah, but neither as captain. Well played me.
  9. I think i mentioned this before, the vid of his goals for us is incredible. His one problem is that he's a bit hit and miss/hot and cold. He'll have games where his decision-making is all over the place, then games where he looks like a world-beater.
  10. Fuck me, only just got a break and checked the board. Post-match discussion from p9? Jeez.
  11. Of course. We've drawn Watford, West Ham, Arsenal, and now Chelsea FFS.
  12. I'm sure we could knock it down a rebuild on the same spot to keep that enviable city center position. The thing is where do we relocate for a few years while it is built - I'm sure Sunderland would be happy to share their stadium You know for a fact the FA would force us to play our home games at the training ground. No special treatment for us. This is what I hate about the Wembley thing. Crowds should be limited to what the maximum capacity of WHL was. The capacity is restricted to 51K which is less than the capacity of the new WHL. Only some of the games are. Earlier in the season and last season they weren't. The deal to allow them to use it from December onwards restricted the capacity to 51K. Wrong. http://www.soccer-blogger.com/2017/12/20/tottenham-hotspur-crowds-at-wembley-2017-2018-attendances-stats-premier-league-champions-league-cup/ f*** me Neesy, what's with the Donald Trump stuff? Did you read what he wrote? https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/tottenham-wembley-season-new-stadium-15400190 The deal to stay on restricted capacity. We're apparently trying to negotiate an increase for certain games. My bad, yes it is restricted going forward. But it was suggested by upjest it was restricted last season which it clearly wasn't for most games. He says exactly the opposite.

Yup - it's one of my key functions on here . There are a number of trigger phrases to which I am required to respond.
  15. I thought we were out of the Checkatrade, but we're playing tonight. Still in the second round though, for some reason.

We could only dream of spending the money they were spending, and we've been better over those years. Would be nice to win something though . Would also be nice if Man City and Chelsea fucked off, but there you go.

Not much cash? Naah. Net transfer spend? Sure. But they consistently spent shit-loads on wages, and as soon as Chelsea started spending he stopped winning stuff. The frugal years were between 2006 and 2013, when he won precisely zip, and even Spurs won a trophy. Then after that he - or the higher-ups - really did start to splash the cash.

Not surprised if it's as toxic as it seems backstage. If they already have somebody lined up then the new guy also gets the opportunity to see what they have and then address issues in the transfer window. If they don't, then what do they lose apart from severance pay? It just seems like everything is bad there.
  19. I put a couple of offers down. You could swap out Tarkowski for any defender if there's another you'd rather get rid of.
  20. Pochettino would be a good fit for pretty much anyone though.
