Get up you little sh- oh I can't be bothered any more.

Lamela's had a back injury for a while, but it's always seemed a bit like an "injury". We're desperate to see him back on the pitch. Sherwood has looked like what he is, a decent communicator with the respect of the players who hasn't got his UEFA Pro coaching badge. Some good decisions, some not so good. He does seem to learn from his mistakes, but I think he's still trying to work out how he wants his teams to play. That makes it hard for him to succeed with a team that is still learning to play together anyway.

Naah. Getting everyone behind the ball, breaking at speed with Konoplyanka. They only need one goal I reckon, and we could do with a bit of luck, like that second Napoli goal. It's always hard to break these teams down.

Get up you little shit .

Going to be bloody hard to break these guys down.

Lovely goal. I'd love Swansea to take Napoli out (although I'm pretty confident we're going out too tonight) - Italian crowds are funny when they're pissed off.

I wish I still played Edmonton Sunday League football now, so that I could destroy the cunts who would wear this stuff.

Im surrounded by spurs fans where i live and 95% of them prefer Lennon over Townsend which tells you everything you need to know about Townsend. Townsend looked bright for England and that's why he's in. The first choice thing is bollocks because the top 4-6 teams rotate anyhow. Glad to see Shaw in and hope he gets a trot. Would obviously have liked to see Cleverley f***ed off maybe for Livermore who's been excellent of late. I'd be surprised, but I'd be proud if that happened. Three academy products, two of whom are real local boys - plus Walker/Defoe/Carrick.

It was for loads of the family IIRC. Can't remember the details - I wasn't having a go at the guy, just pointing out that his demands were supposedly a stumbling block.

Not sure if you can see these threads, but here's us talking about him: http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/the-next-modric.84488/ http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/alen-halilovi%C4%87.98820/ http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/alen-halilovic-part-ii.104882/ If you look at the dates, you can see that we've been talking for two years. At one point it looked like we might have a deal sewn up, but rumour is that his Dad was playing hardball and asking for loads of stuff for the family (accommodation in England, money, schooling etc etc). There was a thinking that he might use us as a stepping stone () but maybe the family have decided to cut out the middle man.

Cole, Lampard, Milner, Welbeck. Who else? Barkley Cleverley Smalling are in and out and not first choice. Defoe up until now, AOC, Townsend. Guess it depends upon your definition of first choice. Cleverley has appeared 19 times this season, Barkley, Smalling & Townsend all 20 or over, despite Barkley being injured at one point IIRC. AOC has been injured half the season and has performed well when fit. Defoe is obviously leaving to go to a team where he'll play every week. But obviously yeah, he wasn't first choice at Tottenham (and is s***). I personally wouldn't say that half of the squad aren't first choice. Perhaps more importantly, the majority of those players are younger players working their way into playing every_single_game, so I wouldn't let that stop me calling them up to a squad that we know is going to be young. Once again, Defoe is the exception (and is s***). Plus we're coming up against the usual issues. People complain that we're shit, then complain when we can't beat other teams. They complain that our players are all rubbish, then complain when we pick rubbish players. They complain that young English players don't get enough PL games because of all the imports, then complain when we pick young English players who aren't first choice PL players. We can't have it both ways. We're bang average, with one or two truly world class players and a host of mediocre players and young players who are developing. We generally perform as well as can be expected. There's an interesting discussion to be made around the fringes of the squad, but the majority is going to be predictable, and fair enough. I just can't see why people get so worked up about it any longer. Defoe is presumably getting the nod because at least he has some experience. Cleverley presumably because he's young and decent, although surely there's someone better somewhere?

It actually looks a bit more like this though:

Not having this ref today. Second shocking tackle from VW, and not even a yellow.

Given Sherwood is an Anglophile he might get a run at Spurs next season. Hope so, he's a real local lad, went to Enfield Grammar. He always seemed willing but ultimately limited - has really benefited from a run in the team at Hull. They seem to love him too. Livermore's probably the classic tale of young English developing talent in one sense. He's been good enough to be a squad player getting a few games for the first team. 24 league games two season back (when we finished fourth) then just 11 league games under AVB. We buy shit-loads of CMs to push him down the pecking order, then ship him out on loan. Like most players that age he wants to be playing regularly, whereas I'd really like him to be a squad player and in the cups etc - probably what his skillset merits right now. Similar issues to Bentaleb. There have been a fair few people on here and at Spurs who feel that his performances don't justify his place, yet how is he going to improve without playing time? It's bloody hard to keep so many squad players happy too, particularly when you can't pay as much as the nutjobs at Chelsea, City and Arsenal. If your wages are bonus-driven, as ours supposedly are, then you aren't going to make too much extra cash sitting on the bench.
-
Arsenal have five homegrown players. Chelsea have four. By way of comparison, both ourselves and yourselves have nine, even though there's a perception that your squad is filled with Frenchmen. I mean, teams can do what they like, but I still think it's sad that so few players in an English team's squad can qualify as homegrown.
-
Is this a whoosh?
-
When we were completely shit, and Alan Nielsen won the game with ten men I went absolutely apeshit. When we were the big underdogs and won it against Chelsea I went absolutely apeshit. I couldn't give a fuck - big day out at Wembley and then winning the fucker too? Yes please.
-
I find that very hard to believe.
-
Ah, shit, forgot. John Terry in the last bench spot. Arse.

The sad truth is that so many of us at the time had similar stories - the main one I remember was at QPR - but the authorities (football, government etc etc) didn't listen: http://thehillsboroughdisasterdocumentary.com/2011/11/16/hillsborough-1981-disaster-narrowly-avoided/ Look at the link in the text (third paragraph) where they show footage from our semi v Wolves. This was 19-f***ing-81 - eight years before. I think that it's difficult to get across to younger fans just how poorly footy fans were treated in the eighties - literally caged in like animals. Agree, but many fans during the 70's and 80's were animalistic in their behaviour thus allowing the authorities to qualify their treatment of the majority. Blame cannot only be pointed at one particular party,if you went to football matches during that era,as I did,you know that it was society as a whole that was f***ed then,we now reside in the blame and claim culture. What happened was a tragedy but then again hindsight is a great tool in the hands of the ignorant. Yes. But we aren't employing hindsight, we were protesting at the time. And people in a position to do something had at least eight years worth of hindsight, and f***ed it up. That's not ignorance, that's wilful. Look, I'm not going to point blame at one particular party - there were some horrible c***s on the terraces, as there are some in the seats today. I just think it's worth re-iterating that Hillsborough could have happened several times over, to several people on here, and that it was avoidable. Salient points indeed,I agree with your sentiments. Yeah, sorry if I seem a bit belligerent today . Hillsborough does rather hit home, and it seems insane that it was nearly 25 years ago.
