  1. Wow. Genuinely surprised, despite Gillingham being rough as arseholes.
  2. Livermore should be nowhere near that squad, but Caulker makes perfect sense. "Are these players the future of England when they can hardly get in their club teams?" Well if they're young, looked good playing a full season of Premiership football, and did well in the Olympic tournament, then of course. I mean, Williamson? Simpson? I could understand Taylor, but he's not exactly set the Premiership alight either. He's played about the same number of Premiership games in the last three seasons that Caulker managed last year. Seems a reasonable squad, but frankly beggars can't be choosers.
  3. That's exactly what I saw yesterday in their game. I think I posted somewhere that with an upgrade on Downing they would look seriously good going forward. However, if they're relying on Downing and then Gerrard gets injured (eminently likely) then it falls apart.
  4. Damn, that rules Jenas out then. What other homegrown players can do that?
  5. It's silly money, but they clearly wanted him, and if the rumours are true about the agreement/loophole/release clause then they would have had to pay a minimum of 15M. Not that he's worth it, but it sounds like they wouldn't have been able to get him for less.
  6. Naah, I mean, it's not as if they're going to be putting thousands of pounds on it. True enough, hopefully they will get over-excited. Just seen their first few fixtures, and they're terrifying.
  7. I tell you what though, they're looking annoyingly competent tonight. I think Rodgers is going to be a good choice in the long term. I realise they're playing a dodgy team, but still.
  8. Borini scores. Lovely play by Suarez, who up till now has been his usual self - offside repeatedly, and a total cunt. Liverpool look nice going forward, with Borini on the left and Downing on the right, both cutting in. Shelvey looks a bit ropey. If this game is anything to go by, Carroll (not playing) could not be any more out of place. Their style does not suit him at all. A lot will depend upon Gerrard staying fit, and they will need to upgrade on Downing, but they look OK.
  9. Watching the Liverpool match. These oppos are terrible.
  10. Bates has been "dodgy as" since he left his mother's womb.
  11. I'm extremely surprised that we haven't been in for Vorm. I mean, if we get Lloris then fair enough, but still.
  12. Nope, us too. That's why we can't get anyone in. At our level, players who can improve the team are simply costing a fortune in fees and wages, unless we take a punt.
  13. Why are PSG a disgrace to football and not clubs like Man City, Chelsea even Man United, Barcelona and Real Madrid who all have enormous debts? If anything all clubs except us and Arsenal should be considered a disgrace since we seem to be the only reasonably run clubs from an economic point of view.
  14. Totally in keeping with Liverpool's recent record of gaffes followed by a desperate PR scramble. In other news, also totally in keeping with the Daily Mail's inability to detect the real story, particularly if it doesn't back their agenda.
  15. Pre-season games don't mean anything - we're waiting for the real kick-off.

Not that they're not boring, bitter cunts, but it's not that crazy to consider Adebayor at that level. He did score 17 (4th in the Premier League) and assist 11 (also 4th). I mean, I might agree with you, but it's not worth a FFS when there's plenty other RTG FFSs going round.
  17. Cazorla and Sahin would be a pisser. TBF, you could argue they're both additions to their attacking midfielder mountain.
  18. His move to Spuds was far worse than Carrolls to Liverpool has been. Fish out of water. Eh? Worse for who? Pienaar tried a new club, didn't work out, got to play in the CL, ended back where he began after a year or two. Spurs got a good player for a year or two, and made money. Carroll went to a club who patently don't want him, and he's still there. Liverpool paid thirty-five million pounds for him. The Pienaar transfer was only worse for the selling club. I'm just baffled at how you've somehow made a bloody profit Levy I think just good faith on both our and Everton's side. Pienaar was at the end of his contract, so we got a bargain. He's clearly a classy player and terrific for Everton, so in a strange way they got a bargain too. 4.5M for a player who's that influential? You know all about that (Cabaye).

  20. Only caught the second half tonight, apparently I got lucky. Terrific goal by Sigurdsson, nice to have someone who can deliver a corner too. Otherwise we had most of the possession but didn't look convincing. Starting to worry that we won't have a forward or Modric/Modric replacement in for the game against you guys, which would be a serious issue.
  21. Keeping a player against his will is equally as twattish. Not sure I agree. The club doesn't have an obligation to help the player make as much money as possible, they have to look after their own interests. Otherwise why bother with contracts at all? The player would be grateful for a couple of years' guaranteed income if they broke their leg or something. Absolutely. The contract is there to protect both player and club. I really don't see why this is so obscure for some people. If you look at it from the other side, you're saying that a club should be able to just cancel that contract if they feel like it.
  22. I don't see why footballers should feel obligated to play for one club when others desire their services. Fulham can relinquish his wages if he refuses to play. Selling him would be the more intelligent move, though. Because he signed a contract. "I agree to play for you for x years while you pay me a huge wodge of cash." It's not rocket science, and he didn't have a gun to his head.
  23. I really, really hope that Rodgers crashes and burns spectacularly. Don't think it's going to happen, but I can dream.
  24. Just signed a big new sponsorship deal with Chevrolet too. ...who have just decimated my father-in-laws pension, having already taken his medical etc away. They can rot in fucking hell, the absolute cunts.
