    Football pet hates

Both are s*** tbh. I can't remember ever scoring a goal/assisting without wanting to celebrate with the relevant team-mate, unless we were doing the grab-the-ball-and-restart-sharpish thing.
  2. Well BMJ and AVB are certainly not excuses guys, and Ramos didn't really speak enough to come up with any excuses. His main one was that his players hadn't had enough time to gel ("2 points after 8 games"), which was probably fair enough. But then there's 'arry. Nothing quite as absurd as training ground spies or fantasy congestion, but he was a fairly regular "this isn't an excuse, but" kinda guy. Just rather more plausible than Pardew. Plus his team generally did well, so his were usually pre-emptive and actually not needed.
  3. Not read much of the thread, but it's scary that there are already 17 pages. Is that last excuse actually true? That's spectacular.
  4. Like we needed the advice I did wonder what your defence would be though, Brummie. How do you expect to line up?
  5. Yeah. Think this is a pretty decent format. This is my first go for years. My first was the 90 Minutes magazine one (for the middle-aged out there), and I was doing really well, but stopped because I thought it corrupted me as a supporter - smarmy prick that I was. I've only done a couple since - the best one was some time around 2000 or so (Henry, Pires etc) when we used a boardroom at work for an auction before the season. Can't remember the website running it, but it was ace - we all chipped in and they sent an auctioneer.
  6. Bony on the bench ? Hmm id have him in a front 3 Nope, no clues . Far too little disinformation on here. Might start talking about Naughton starting at RB.
  7. Soldado will without a shadow of a doubt. 2nd one is a little more difficult, can't really say. Nice one, Mole. Haven't followed Spurs' pre-season, and for some funny reason managers can have a habit of not dropping the established stalwart in favour of the new superstar (like with Lloris last season for instance). That was a very different situation. Lloris signed on Aug 31st, so hadn't had any training with us - and Friedel had already played some games. In addition, it's clear that AVB has consolidated his power base with us, and now has far more influence on incoming transfers. I'm sure Soldado's his man. Just scored a hat-trick in a closed-doors friendly (against a really shit team, tbf), and I fully expect him to play from day one. Worth keeping an eye on our game against Espanol this week to see who plays.
  8. 9.5M. Trying to crowbar him in as we speak.
  9. I really can't make up my mind about the Suarez thing. On the one hand, he's a total cunt so hopefully people will learn to hate Arsenal a bit more, it will piss off Liverpool no end and he's missing a few games. On the other, he's really good and I don't want good players at Arsenal, obviously.
  10. I really hope so, but no, I can't see it.
  11. Oh he's supposed to be training with us, the funny thing is that some random made up a tweet about him playing for us and scoring and the Metro printed it as news. I mean, Can't control scoring two goals? Surely that was a giveaway.
  12. Don't, man, I'm still a teensy bit worried it's true .
  13. He's some bullshitter who apparently used to be a member on a Spurs site. It was an 11-0 friendly - Soldado 3, Sigurdsson 3, Townsend 2, Kane 2, Lennon. Not a Cole in sight. Fairly classy wumming, it seems (he says, slightly nervously).
  14. I know he's supposed to be training with us for fitness, but apparently the Cole thing was a twitter WUM that Metro lapped up .
  15. Overpaid definitely but to get good players they are going to have to do that without CL to attract. Expect many more overpriced deals if Bale is sold. This. Right now, it's the amount we have to pay to get a striker better than those we already have.
  16. I don't understand it like, how Rodgers didn't win last season I'll never know.... They finished 7th and did nowt in the cups. Who below them should have finished ahead of them? like I said, I don't understand the scoring of it...just thought the raping we got off Liverpool would be enough to make the parky/rodgers competition nul and void This thread is devoid of logic. It's one of the bigger ones on here and is about a team that couldn't give a flying f*** about us. You can't argue with the fact that Liverpool have been kinda hilarious over the last 3-4 years, though? There's been plenty of material to work with.
  17. I thought the 6-1 was a pretty emphatic late winner, tbh.
  18. See I could compare Woody but Ledley King. ......nah. I respectfully disagree. Sol was extraordinarily physically gifted, and an excellent CB, but Ledley was better, and comfortably better on the ball. The impact of his injury (at the age of 19 http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2012/07/29/3272802/ledley-kings-knee-problems-started-in-tottenham-debut) cannot be understated, and what he achieved despite that was astonishing.
  19. Aye, great class from Liverpool to add in some fine print and ambiguity into the clause. So much this. What did he expect a classy Arsenal to do? "Well £40M is enough for the clause, but that's so vulgar, £60M would be the right thing to do." Fuck off.
  20. Not having that one. He's quite obviously a twat.
  21. It started as Parky vs Roy Hodgson, in a manner of speaking, and then just became Liverpool because of general tidiness and the amusement value. Actually it started with Benny the Benitez. That's what I thought. At the time, seeing as we were the top-ranked side in Euro football, it seemed pretty daft to me. Since then, not so much Oh man. Writing lists like that would be my dream job. Or memos like this: http://www.lettersofnote.com/2009/09/ps-this-is-my-favorite-memo-ever.html
  22. Hazard is the perfect case, though. We did go for him, very publicly, the year we got bumped from the CL by Chelsea. Hazard made all the right noises but refused a transfer in January because he quite obviously wanted to wait to see who got CL. Chelsea scraped in, and so he went there. It's getting harder and harder to get anybody at that level in, because without the CL or a sugar daddy, you're pretty much nothing. There are too many clubs willing and able to pay considerably more money and/or offer regular CL football. Ultimately, I'd rather have a player who's already been with us for a while, and is really, really good. I'd like Bale to stay, please.
  23. It's actually nearer than the 3rd Yes. And the transfer window ends at 11pm on the 2nd. Other than that, it was a hilarious edit .
  24. September 3rd seems so far away.
