I genuinely liked this one from RAWK: Best thing about the whole incident was the fact that it was a clearly premeditated attempt to get (a) a penalty (b) a red card for retaliation. Suarez's appeal immediately afterwards is so telling. I think it's good that his past record seems to have been taken into account, although I really didn't expect 10 games. Just hope that he is sold, or that we have them at the beginning of next season.

Those pics made me sick in my mouth a little .

Not sure if serious (says the Browns fan).

Was it against us? We got one at your place in October 2011, though I'm sure VDV got one somewhere after that. At home, though, the last one anyone can remember is Bolton in Feb 2011. How many have Man U had at Old Trafford this season alone?
-
Apparently it's now two years since we were awarded a penalty at home. Now would be a good time. City are just better than us today.

Fuck me. Clicked on the "last read" post for me in this thread and it was on p817...but that was less than a week ago. 123 pages in less than a week? Don't hold back lads, let it all out .

I actually forgot that that was a penalty. I still can't believe that we haven't even had one this season.

Hope Bale doesn't get it so I don't have to listen to the inevitable whining afterwards. I'd probably go Suarez, then Bale for YP on basic play, although I don't think players should be considered for YP if they're up for the other award. I'd prefer the YP award to be for U-21s, and on that basis, Suarez and Lukaku for me.

You used to have to take it on the one side, but that changed a long time ago.

"Penalty to UNITED" says the BBC .

What was hi s pre match guff? "Paolo has had three good working days to work on us, three good training days full pelt with his team, I will have literally none." “The players will have done a bit of warming up and everything else will be on the board. We’ve got to get our message right on that board. “We’ve got better at that. We’ve had to do that from Thursday to Sunday. The more experience teams like Manchester United who do it regularly perhaps find it that little bit easier." “We’ve found that hard to get our message across for the Sunday, what we’ve wanted. But now we’ve managed to put that right to an extent and hopefully we will get it right this Sunday.” “Paolo and myself won’t have much control over the first 45 minutes to some extent. It takes its own course.“We can try and influence it, but the first chance we are really going to get is at half time when we sit everybody down and say ‘hang on a minute, what’s going on here’.“Sometimes it’s really good and sometimes it’s not so good.” Jesus. Even coming from a neutral perspective, that's terrible. He's had, what, two years with many of the players, and since at least Jan with the others. That should be enough time to get a general idea of what you want! Sure, you worry about the oppo a bit, but (a) you've got better players (b) you're at home © you're not really going to know what their plan is going to be because they have a new manager. So you just start like the clappers and try to play your own game. I get that some players may be tired, but haven't you had three home games on the trot?

Naaah. I think this result means curtains for Wigan tbh. Still, it's scary to think about the situation should Cissé not have scored the late goal last week.

It was 5th v 12th, not 17th so people can guess at the money we'll not get this season. Yeah, though Europa money will level that out to a degree, and we could yet finish above 12th (hopefully ) Also, next season's TV deal is epic anyway. The only important thing is staying up really. That's exactly it. Going down would have been a complete nightmare for you because of the January investment, and subsequent wage bill increase. Sunderland have been making big losses for so long that you could argue Short will just have bankrolled them again.

We've been having the same convo at our place. I've got a decent Spurs one from our anniversary match, but the wife has a Villa one too. Then you add in the fact that I wouldn't mind flying a Union flag and an Aussie flag. The house will be like the United Nations.

Hoping for Barca - Dortmund & Real Madrid - Bayern semi finals. Hoping for Barca-Real semi so they foul, moan and cheat each other into oblivion. One enormous punch-up would be ace.
-
Nice to know QPR are f***. You want Wigan to win?
-
I completely understand and agree with the decision for e Europa clubs to play their games on a Sunday, but it still bugs me getting up on Saturday and knowing that there will only be a handful of Prem games. And my team won't be one of them.
-
nice try - Mirallas is playing, and we're also missing Defoe, Gallas, Kaboul and Sandro. And in another boost for you, Hibbert is injured. My team is shitter than your team! ("no, we're shitter etc. etc.). Agree that both teams need to win or kiss CL goodbye. Seems that Moyes has decided to flood the midfield, which usually works against us. I think we will struggle big time out wide, and we really need Ade to get some confidence with an early goal. Our only attacker (even attacking midfielder) on the bench has never played for us.

BBC Sport: GET INVOLVED Elliot Bambrough: (external) "Gunners doing it without Theo, Wilshere, Vermaelen, Podolski. Interested to see how Spurs get on without just the one Welsh lad." Nice straw man you've got there . We'll be missing Bale, Lennon, Defoe, Sandro and Kaboul, of course. And Gallas, but meh.
-
Yeah, I'm sure they'll be quaking in their boots at the thoughts of winning in... Switzerland. If Bale is out it's a blow, but I imagine they'll still go to Basel and win. Have you seen Basel? They're really good. They were better tactically, worked really hard and broke at speed. A proper good side, was very impressed tonight. I think we might sneak it, but we're likely to be missing Defoe, Lennon, Lloris and Bale, (and Kaboul and Sandro). No width at all. It's going to be a cracking match if tonight is anything to go by.
-
That's what Villa-Boas speculated though. He said something similar after the Sandro injury and he was out for the season. Weirdly, it's made me more relaxed about the rest of the season. I was ready for a white-knuckle ride, but now (obviously rationalizing madly) I don't expect CL or even the semis of the EL. Either would be a pleasant shock. I wouldn't be as worried about Bale missing if Lennon hadn't got injured as well, which leaves us with precisely no wide midfielders. The kids (and Bentley) are all out on loan.
-
Mint. Lennon and Bale almost certainly out for weeks.
-
Changed a bit now. They're looking like a good team, and they're playing the classic away game, men behind the ball when we have it (and pressing when we get into their half) then looking to break with speed. Going to be two great games tbh. Wish Lennon hadn't got injured.
-
This game is nuts. They've gone for broke, pushing people forward every chance they get, which means it's completely end-to-end. Cracking game, but terrible defending on both sides.
