I mean, we were. Son’s shot goes in, then what? Not sure it’s worth noting that at all. Liverpool and us took very different approaches, absolutely. We and they were both immense and heroic. They were better organized because they still had their full defence plus others, we weren’t because we didn’t. If VDV stays on then the high line is a different kettle of fish. Dier and PEH playing a high line is hilarious. But…it also means that you’re pushing players on and looking for a goal. Liverpool stopped doing that well before the end.

He is. The weird thing is his goalkeeping isn’t the best part. And it’s fantastic.

Should have had it won early doors. Romero got sucked in again. Udogie will learn. We play the way we want. Fans were immense. Vicario was incredible. Those who stayed on the pitch were terrific. Ange has said before that once they’re on the pitch it’s up to the players to work it out. General feeling is really positive. Sucks that we’ll be missing so many key players for a bit, but it feels like we’ve played most of the types of games it’s possible to play in our first 11. Spirit counts for an awful lot, as you know.

Just got home. Put Radio 5 Live on on the way down the M1. Who was the female presenter/commentator on with “Azza” Lennon and the always jovial Clinton Morrison? Gushingly effusive over Villa to the point of annoyance before the match. I particularly enjoyed Forest immediately scoring before my (Villa) wife made me turn it off.

The only thing that makes me nervous is that after Klopp’s strop Liverpool got some generous reffing and we had 40+ consecutive fouls against us without a single yellow card for the oppo until right at the end of the Palace game. Really hope Arsenal don’t get the same courtesy.
