Theres no real basis to suggest we'd be doing better otherwise though. How do you know for sure unless you try? You need to assume the current formation wouldnt be better than the alternatives to want to try them. He obviously thinks it would be. Maybe thinks we'd get overun in midfield with 3 in the middle, lua lua hasnt really ever stepped up, vuckic played yesterday. Guthrie & Taylor have the ability to get crosses into ameobi etc Im sure he has his reasons.

Playing without our 3 best attacking midfielders in those two and Barton. To be expected really.

His runs & pace make us a better side, his movement creates chances for others. You can say his runs will be marked better in the prem. You could say the same of Carroll winning as many headers. Its easy to focus on negatives and write off a players strengths.

Lovenkrands has the best movement out of any of our fowards.

Its his pricetag that creates the expectation that he can do better. Thats about the only difference to the others.

That shot that cannoned off the bar against liverpool from near 40 yards out was a bit special. He always had some flair, not many could do that.

We signed him when in the championship, so people now relate him with that level. Regardless of the fact that he outperformed colo when he came in & controlled our defence far better, was better in the air etc

Think all 3 of Williamson, Colo & Taylor have potential to do well. No solid reason to put any above the other at this point.

He got good reviews at the start moreso because he cost 10 million, rather than any consistantly decent performances

What a challenge that is at 1:20. 2:25 is impressive. Reads the situation perfectly, then outsprints rodallega despite starting 2 yards behind him when its played. Only Enrique out of our other defenders might be able to match that.
