I reckon not tbh. Van Dijk, de Ligt, de Vrij, Timber, Ake are all capped and played recent games. I think he should be in there but honestly a long shot for an uncapped player to make it in ahead of players a manager has relied on previously.

It's not that bad mind. Bayern midfield alone makes it a match for most other sides in the tournament. England really missed out on Musiala considering our options in that position. Werner being out is probably a positive overall. Biggest weakness is at CB.

Not a bad draw. My only worry is that Bournemouth's World Cup players will be well home by then I we might potentially be without Bruno (or the England lads if you're a dreamer). But otherwise it's a very winnable tie. -

Gallagher and Phillips seem like weird picks on face value until you realise that nobody of any note has missed out.
-
People screaming for Tomori couldn't have watched much of him this season. He's been awful. As is the case with such a large squad of 26 I don't think there is anybody who has missed out that you would consider scandalous. It's a reasonably fair pick of form players and players trusted from previous tournaments.

Newcastle United 0-0 Crystal Palace (Newcastle win 3-2 on pels) - 09/11/22

Sloppy to the point where at times during the second half was genuinely not sure that he was fit. Played very much within himself. Did put in a couple of good crosses that we could have scored from like - which was about as close as we got to scoring all game. -

The groundhopper in me hopes for one of those lower league sides away. Except Gillingham as I went to that atrocious cup tie under Pardew. Other than that I'd take a home tie against anybody. -

We were pish tonight but Palace are absolute hoop, mind. Every time they come here they appear to be playing for 0-0. Glad that playing for pens backfired. -
Inject it. Literally.

Yeah that's unreal. I've been hoping for something like this for a while - I know Hartlepool have InTheMadCrowd which is similarly ridiculously thorough.

Yeah Serie A you can pick whatever you want up to 99. PL you generally can't just pick the really high numbers. It has to be consecutive and closest to the nearest high number. Renato Sanches at Swansea tried to pick 85 and was told he couldnt - and there's quite a few other examples in the past. It's usually just youth players who then have the high squad numbers so you'll often only see those in league cup games and the likes. One of the few first team players with a high number I can think of is Alexander-Arnold who seems to have just retained his number since he broke through
-
I mean it's hardly controversial or unreasonable. Set squad numbers have literally been a thing at every international tournament ever played. Higher numbers are possible at club level only because it's feasible to have far more players. Although even in the PL you can't pick the very high numbers (50-99) unless you literally have that many youth players named with numbers.

Off the top of my head that's basically the 50 or so minutes Vs Wolves and 20 minutes or so Vs Man City. Otherwise a few minutes against Bournemouth and seconds when we lost to Liverpool. There's definitely a feeling about the way we play that we work very hard not to concede the first goal in the game. And once we get the breakthrough ourselves we tend to pull away.

It's surely a system thing too. Brazil play a clearly defined 4-2-3-1 with two deeper midfielders and a #10. Joelinton has been playing as a box to box in a 4-3-3 which is very different. I'm not sure how he'd do as a defined and disciplined holding midfielder and he's clearly not good enough to be the #10. Obviously he adds flexibility to a squad by being able to play wide too but Brazil have loads of options there so it's not needed. I think a combination of their current system and the fact he's never had a call up before made it a certainty he wouldn't make it.
-
Diaby has picked up form in recent weeks since they appointed Alonso. Could go back in for him. I still think another winger who could play both sides is marginally preferable to another midfielder but I see the arguments either way. Personally would be happy with 1 major signing in January to give us a boost. Other than that I would look at a young RB because I'm worried Trippier will fall apart physically in second half of the season.
-
Paqueta obviously has a lot of quality but I can't see him ever dominating games in the PL the way Bruno has. He doesn't look hugely different to the player I watched at Milan.
-
Bazunu doesn't seem like he knows how to make a save like.

Currently on course for around 73 points That rate would have been enough for Leicester in 2015/2016 to still have won the league by a couple of points.
