I think it's the most I've ever seen a player come on in the space of a year. Maybe Bale, but he's just sort of recovered from a slump in a promising career. I never had Carroll down to be anything remotely decent, at 21 he's already far exceeded expectations I had for him.

Actually, what was that site somebody posted after the Villa game. You could get t-shirts with the score and a goalscorer on them, with the minute of the goal scored. They looked canny. Anybody remember the link?

I've said it before but he's twice as good as Bent in terms of technique and allround play with his feet. The remarks about hs style of play from the mackems are not only innacurate but also hypocritical.

His overall performances have improved to be honest. He was absolutely superb yesterday, and long may it continue.

Agreed, he's simply not good enough. Would be good to shift him in Jan, seem to have enough cover at right back and right wing now. I still think he can have a role to play coming off the bench, 1-0 down with 20mins to go, who would you rather have in the squad taking corners and freekicks? Even if he does nothing else... You're making out like he takes set pieces like Beckham. He isn't good enough defensively to see out a lead. Compared to other players in our team, he does take set pieces like Beckham! How many other players have actually scored freekicks in their career? Ryan Taylor obviously has several, can't think of any others, maybe Barton has scored one, but I don't remember him scoring any... Guthrie scored one last season against WBA.
