I don't see how Lovenkrands has anything to make him an impact sub. He's basically a poacher who will be anonymous for large periods of a time but has decent pace and movement in the very few occasions he gains the chance to show it. If anything he's the kind of player you'd start in a game in the hope he'd pop up with a goal, rather than somebody you'd introduce as a sub in the hope of changing the game. Personally I don't think he's Premiership class, but I'd rather have him in the team than Nolan atm.

Having goalscorers on the pitch is a pretty simplistic and misguided way of looking at things, tactically. I hope there was more of a thought process behind it than that.

No. We should have adapted our gameplan to exploit their massive, fundamental weaknesses. The fact they're slow, cumbersome and have limited footballing ability. Why we didn't just keep the ball on the floor I'll never know. Adapting the gameplan to suit their play is what we did today (long ball to Carroll) and is why we played into their hands.

We should sign Bentley in January. We desperately need somebody who can cross a ball.
