  1. Good idea. Maradona has a church in his honour. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iglesia_Maradoniana

What's your problem, FM? Think of his services to mackemdom and the memorable seasons where he scored 6 and 7 goals in the top flight. Arise Sir Niall.

Statue, stand and even stadium named after him isn't enough. http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=675426
  5. Anybody that still thinks Ronaldo is better than Messi is just being stubborn these days. Check out Ronnie's face after that goal in the CL semi last season, even the greasy one knows it deep down.
  6. Penaldo just scores pens and tap ins these days. 10 pens in the league this season, give them to Benzema or Higuain instead and they'd be comfortably Madrid's top scorer. At least Zlatan who's been banging away Zenalties all season wins them through his own skill, Cron gets them handed to him by his teammates.

    Alan Pardew

Completely agree Neil. Moyes is probably an overrated manager but the continuity has been key to his success.

  11. Total gobshite who doesn't belong anywhere near the sport.
  12. I am. Still think the arguments in Maradona's favour can be reversed.
  13. Couldn't handle a bit of rough tackling in Spain so swanned off to a club where he couldn't fail to be a hero. [/easyoption] [/howmanyeuropeancups?]
  14. Pfft, took the easy option of being a big fish in a small pond.
  15. Giggs has never been anywhere near as good as Messi or Maradona though.
  16. Messi's legacy at club level already far outstrips Maradona's.
  17. Historical and cultural significance
  18. Club football is a higher standard than international football and presents a much larger and definitive sample to a player's ability, especially today with the Champions League and all the best players being centralised in European competitions. Fact is World Cup today is players thrown together, often mismanaged in many ways and playing disjointed football because they've been playing for their clubs all year round. Expecting the cream to rise to the surface in that scenario is wishful thinking and using it as the main yardstick to judge players on is just daft. The WC is a great event that I look forward to every time but it's a month long shoot out.
