  1. He's dead isn't he? Bah, I mix all those Al-Fayeds, I'm not British afterall. I just though it was a conspiracy I wasn't aware of.
  2. Bottle Dog, we may have to pay over odds to get players to come here over London but our location could also be our greatest ally. The North East (even just North Tyneside) has produced loads of extremely good players over the years and will probably continue to do so, we need to snap up these players instead of letting them move south and have to buy them back for stupid money.
  3. Yep. Hence my fear, as expressed above, about yo-yodom. On the other hand, Shearer could turn out to a managerial genius who will turn poor players into world beaters, while Moat's "local knowledge" will conjure transfer cash out of thin air. Alternatively a new sponsor, increased TV rights and close to 40k season ticket holders might generate money out of thin air... As for needing to spend £40m etc. next season is only partly true. Hull didn't spend £40m and they stayed up, the money is nice an makes it easier but doesn't guarantee anything. Sunderland spent loads and stayed up by the skin off their teeth like Hull. Stoke didn't spend much but were organised and settled with their manager. People have to stop thinking billionaire sugar daddy's are the norm. They aren't, and the majority of clubs don't have them.

    U23s & Academy

I didn't even know we had any teams less than U18s Are they any good?
  5. Everyone puts it down to bitterness but I don't see what anyone sees in Milner. Solid PL, yeah. CL or International class? Nope. He's hardworking but isn't great at crossing, can't really beat a man and only seems to score pens. £16-18m is mental, twice Robert's value? **** off.
  6. how will we afford messi and ronaldo with nee money?
  7. He's been quality defensively as well from what I've saw. Edit - Not Richard Dunne, Vermaelen.

    Keegan or Shearer?

Bolton came to defend, it was a hard fought win with Coloccini and Jonas playing well, and Owen when he came on.

    Keegan or Shearer?

That's a bit like saying Elizabeth Taylor has been happily married 8 times. That's funny...but can you actually make a case that he hasn't done a good job twice without the humour? The second time, he amassed about 3 points in the first eight matches, before the good players returned from injury and we went on a good little 4 or 5 match run through the Sunderland match...at which point the season fizzled out. Then, we had an average start to the next season...before he quit...four matches in. He was an improvement on Fat Sam, but it wasn't great times or anything. 'before the good players returned'...nowt to do with Keegan's tactics? Better tell Man U to get rid of Ferguson, it was Ronaldo that won them 3 titles! Why couldn't Allardyce get Owen, Martins and Viduka playing well? Under Keegan was those three players best ever spells for the club. The reason Keegan started off slowly is because he inherited Allardyce's team which was low confidence and playing s*** football. Once Keegan implemented his own tactics we were flying. As for an average start to the next season? Four point from Man U, Bolton and Arsenal plus through to the second round of the cup...that's average? Bloody hell. Christ, all you do is mock peoples responses and post that damn facepalm picture. It's repetitive and boring. Viduka, Martins, Barton all came back from injury and we got an easier run of fixtures. We went on a good run of about five matches. That's it. Fulham, Reading, Spurs, Pompey (I think), and Sunderland. After that we have average results. Tbh, our results in the next season were nothing to shout about either. We got a creditable draw against an undermanned Man U, laboured to victory against Bolton, struggled to beat a Championship side with a pretty strong team, and were humiliated by Arsenal. That's average. Kinnear was rubbish, and Keegan was obviously better, but still average. And you wonder why I use the facepalm, you're chatting ****.

  11. We can still play decent football with Ranger and Carroll up front, we don't have to play long ball football. You're the one who keeps bringing up that stat and I don't know why. We've played long ball football all season except maybe Reading. Even against West Brom our tactics were still hump it up to Carroll. If you're just talking about long ball tactic why keep saying 2 goals in 11 games? We haven't ****ing got 2 goals in 11 games playing long ball football, we've scored much more. Unless, as I say, you were referring to Ranger and Carroll solely.... Not that hard to understand.
  12. 2 goals in 11 games against the worst of defences doesn't represent success to me. The long ball tactic succeeds only in us losing the ball time and time again. We looked out most dangerous going forward against Brom, Reading and Ispwich to me. Simply because we played some football and got the ball wide when we could. 2 goals in 11 isn't when they were playing together though. The team scored 5 goals in the 2 games Ranger and Carroll started up front. Not saying we should start Ranger-Carroll but the statistic you keep bringing up is totally misleading.

    RIP sale thread.

    Jonas Gutierrez

I think people are in love with **** players because we've got a **** squad. Unless you want us to support Arsenal? Reducing every player to how many goals and assists he gets is a little silly, IMO. Everyone knows what Jonas offers the team and we seem to play better with him in it than without him.
  15. Yeah, Carroll and Harewood all the way for me. Still don't think Carroll gets the credit he deserves.
  16. Why do papers employ idiots like this. Cascarino = wife beater; Collymore = wife beater and dogger. FFS some people do journalism and English degrees, nowt like 'expert' knowledge though eh?

    Jonas Gutierrez

He played four matches under Keegan. One was against Coventry and another was us getting raped against Arsenal. Come off it man. And he was quality against Man U and Bolton. Plus the pre-season friendly against Valencia. Are you denying this? Not denying it, I just don't really think it is worth discussing that he was good in two matches. When you're talking about the likes of Martins, Viduka, Barton, Owen who did well under Keegan for a good long stretch of matches I think it is important, but Jonas really barely got to play for him. He was still twice as good as any other performance he's ever made for us. Not saying it was all down to Keegan, there's other factors like the fact he joined a new club, but it shows the potential he has.

  20. Just joking about winning the league, but they have a chance of 4th. They are 6 points behind 1st with 2 games in hand. They will also strengthen again in January. I wouldn't rule it out, especially since Liverpool are losing often this year. I agree, if they strengthen again in January. But haven't the owners said no more big deals? I doubt they'd buy too big in Jan anyway, don't want to upset the team dynamic if at all possible.
  21. Same. Never thought I'd want Chelsea to win the title though.

Shearer, as it's more realistic I guess...
