  1. It says Guthrie is on 40k when he's on about 5k a week.
  2. I see Terry says he understands he divides opinion. I thought everyone was in agreement that he is a knob?

    Fraser Forster

It would be nice to have another fan in the team. Fraser
  4. Faye was more that decent. Ridiculous that we sold him when we did. He fell out with Keegan. Didn't know that. I wonder why...? He refused to come on after halftime against Everton I think, why he did that I haven't got a clue. Did Faye not have a big bust up with N'Zogbia? Maybe, I'm sure the halftime story is still true though.

  7. Are you talking about the Luque before the serious injury and mistreatment or the Luque prior to those events? He's talking about the actual Luque, not the hypothetical world beater. This is where you lot are failing to understand the argument and so there is no point continuing it. You're building a Luque who never existed, a Luque who should have taken Shearer's place in the team. The actual Luque was there and did nothing to earn his wages or justify his price tag. It's as simple as that. Again, you were about 7 at the time and you're completely ignoring what you've just been told by VI - who saw plenty of him. a) You don't even know how old I am b) it doesn't matter what he did before he came to us, otherwise Barnes and Rush would be two of the greatest players in our history Even if I was that young I don't see how it makes a difference, you're what 25? and still make judgements on players who played in the early nineties as well as Ronaldo who played his best football when you were probably 12-13.

  10. It proves that Shearer's place in the team shouldn't have been anywhere near as secure as it was. In 04-05, he managed 4 from open play in an entire PL season. He was done and shouldn't have been in the first Xl unless it was unavoidable. I don't see how you can blame him for scoring pens, if the great African leader Obafemi Martins could put a pen away maybe his scoring record would've been better. Shearer still brought more to the team than goals as well. I like Best and hope he keeps scoring but as a team player I don't rate him very highly, he can't hold the ball up, doesn't link up very well and can't really win free kicks - Shearer was still doing a lot of those things even right at the end of his career. Edit - I'm still not actually how what you said about Best shows Shearer shouldn't have been in the first eleven. Replace Shearer's name with Rooney this season and you can make the same argument. Ask me who I would want to line up for us next season....it ain't the lad from Nottingham.
  11. That depends on what point I was making surely?
  12. Drogba and Torres have only got nine this season, Rooney only seven (with god knows how many in open play). Picking a Leon Best purple patch doesn't really prove a point.
  13. Shearer shackled the club in its tactical approach? What were we going to serve up with the likes of Carr and Robbie Elliott as fullbacks and Lee Clark on the bench? Shearer gets way too much stick for his last few season that its comical. We had bigger problems basically.
  14. If Shearer returned he'd be in the first team on merit.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

What is it specifically that you don't like? Too many reasons to list, mainly revolving around him playing for Man U.

Sorry, just a joke. One of our other players (Shola Ameobi) is famous for cycling with an apple. Someone must have the picture?

  20. The club put their faith in Lovenkrands over Wayne Routledge. Stop talking s****. There's a bit of a difference between choosing between two young keepers and the Lovenkrands/Routledge situation wouldn't you say? They don't even play in the position for a start. Lovenkrands is a (bad) striker and who sometimes is forced to (wrongly) play on the wing, Routledge is simply a winger. If we got rid of Lovenkrands we would've had three strikers, which would've been stupid whereas Pardew or Ashley wrongly decided Barton, Guthrie, R.Taylor etc. would be enough cover on the right. Choosing between Krul and Forster is a toss up between the two, not really comparable to the other situation.
  21. If the roles were reversed and Forster had played a few games in Harper's absence this season and made a few mistakes I reckon everyone would be calling for Krul to come into the team instead. I doubt anyone has seen enough of either keeper to make a decent judgement, even if you have watched all of Celtic's games this season. The club put their faith in Krul to stand-in for Harper which is telling for me.
  22. I've noticed some people seem to think the team spirit has died out but is there any evidence of this? Stoke was terrible, fair enough, but we didn't lose the spirit after Bolton (A) or West Brom (A), both terrible games as well. Looking at the last eight games, we've came from 4-0 down against the 2nd placed team, drew 1-1 with Champions League quarter-finalsts Spurs, became only the fourth team to win at St. Andrews and drew with ten men against 7th place Bolton. We had a bad result against Stoke but it seems to be the only reference point for our recent form for some people.
  23. Haven't conceded since the start of February (eight games ago!), crazy record. For: 19, Against:0 since the draw with Bologna.
