How can a player be 'good enough' at 18/19 when there's a ready made alternative somewhere else in the world that a Premier League can easily afford with many years of first team football behind them? Even if they're supremely talented at that age, you still don't have the experience of having played two or three hundred games, which we saw the other night when we looked incredibly naive against the Croatians. That's fair enough, but my argument is that they do get the opportunities at first team level, whether on loan or at their present clubs. Can you give an example of an English player who would have 'made it' but didn't get the opportunities as there were foreign players in their place? I can't think of any, hence if they're good enough, they get into their teams or get a transfer sooner than later. This is a really weird question. Shola*

Bit mad how Croatia are in the final on the back of three 1-1 draws in the knockout stages like. And yeah they're bad winners by the sounds of it. No mention of the fact England could've been out of sight by half time and were also the better side in the first half of extra time. It was a pretty even game overall, decided by a lucky bounce. It's a huge achievement for Croatia to get there, shame they're wasting their time sniping at England instead of focusing on themselves.

Yeah I feel the same, expectations much lower. Same if we somehow get to the final I guess. I feel quite proud to have got here already, so I can only echo the idea of lessened nerves. If we go 1-0, I'll probably start shitting it then. I was far more relaxed before Sweden than I was Colombia for this reason. Was desperate for us to just not fall at the first hurdle, doing it on pens was even better. Never really felt all that nervous before or during the last match. Suppose now that it's literally one win from the final means that I'll be bricking it like mad tomorrow like. I was pretty chilled before Sweden, just thought we'd do it as the previous game was such a psychological breakthrough in many ways. Tomorrow I really think we have an excellent chance but not as confident, so that and the magnitude of the game is shredding my nerves.

I can't recall ever being more nervous the day before a match like. Maybe before the FA Cup finals in the late 90s but I was 14/15 then. Looking at the tournament tree makes me feel sick.
