not for this season, doubt there would be a profit for last seasons ones considering the jan spend without that much in sales. We got money for Ba, Best and Forster and also got the likes of Smith and Xisco off the wage bill - we'll see but I wouldn't be shocked if there was enough for him to take money out again.

Aye fair do's, I can't see anything other than ever-increasing chunks being taken off Ashley's "loan" anyway tbh, the sums don't feel like they add up otherwise.

Did we magic up a top 5 quality side (according to at least one person on here) out of thin air? Ashley's not some evil lunatic ffs. If we can get better players for a realistic price, of course we'll invest. Where's your evidence that we'll ever spend more than we bring in on transfers? Eh, none. Not sure where you got that from, I'd be absolutely staggered if that happened as I can't see us spending more that the club can finance itself any more. I do believe the quality of the team has got progressively better over recent seasons. If that's the case, then I'd say that's evidence enough that we're not adverse to investing in players and improving. I mean in terms of having more going out on incoming transfers than comes in via outgoing ones, not living beyond our means. Ashley saw fit to take around £12m out of the club the season before last while not equipping the squad for a Europa League campaign, he also chooses not to sell advertising space which might give us a few more quid to spend as well. I'll be very interested to see the next set of accounts with all of the additional TV money being received and us being the only club in the country to spend the square root of fuck-all last summer. He equips the manager to survive in the league fairly comfortably, nothing more.

On the plus side, this is the only way we'll sign any players - we'll probably get 3 or 4 with this cash over the next couple of windows, when otherwise we'd have doubtless gone without.

Why do you think he wants to leave?
-
Shame if he's not sticking around to aid us in our quest for 8th.
-
You should really drop that one from your repertoire if you want to appear convincing.

Aye I agree, was more on about the language used.
-
Arsenal away he was insanely good, pretty much won that game on his own.

That's yee telt.

Sickening incident. Fuck off man, tabloids.

Aye well done mate, they both have mouths and teeth.

He's really not like. Aye, not at all. 'Screaming' that was he? Honestly, I just don't get it. There must be some perverse pleasure to people winding themselves into a froth over the snippets we pick out (this one seeing him seemingly answering a question with a standard straight 'no shit Sherlock' answer). What actual evidence has there been to suggest we have any sort of policy to flog our players at the first hint of a profit? Heck, one could quite easily argue that we have been actually better at keeping the decent ones over the past few seasons than at almost any time over the past few decades. Oh, so your emphasis was on "screaming", was it? Not sure if he screamed it - I need to hear a tape recording. Nobody was talking about Cabaye leaving last summer, then Pardew started prattling on about it in interviews, then it seemed to become an issue. It wouldn't surprise me if we're waiting for a big sale before we spend any more money, the Carroll money's probably just about ran out now.

Not sure what I'd say if the club said "Liverpool have offered us £35m and we want to sell you, so off you go" but we've been here before.

What an absolute flid.
