The average Toon fan is, at the very least, content with Pardew. We've been hearing these stories from the ground too often for them not to be true. I'd say my dad's as close to the average fan as it gets and he can't fucking stand him. Know what you're saying though, the tolerance he's been shown is mind blowing.
-
What? All of it, the Ben Arfa thing especially. Wasn't having a pop.
-
He doesn't just pick the team and make the subs, he trains the team and directs the tactics and is also there to motivate the players. Although that said the only sub I'd have brought on at that point was Sammy Ameobi. You don't bring Tiote on when you're losing.
-
Yep, the plank isn't even smart enough to realise the benefits of a 2 goal lead.
-
The Tiote sub was beyond incompetent by the way, more signs that the guy in the dugout doesn't have a clue.
-
Knew we'd see comments like this, more evidence that some people think the manager's job begins and ends with picking the team. Yes, the players were poor today but Pardew needs to share the responsibility for that, and then some. Particularly when we've pulled out that trick of being in a good position at half time then going to shit.
-
Exactly.
-
It is funny how Pardew picks up a couple of wins and starts getting all cocky again mind.

Lie back and take anything the club throws at you, don't even take an interest in how the club's run. Anything else is an overreaction. I think "miffed" and disappointed and a bit worried is as far as most people went and not for the first time in recent years.
-
I think I was being harsh actually. Reckon he was taking the piss, sort of.
-
Of course they have a right to be miffed. Everyone was, including the manager I'm sure. All he said was that there had been an overreaction in the summer. There was a bit of an overreaction. Lets move on. I don't think anyone overreacted. Not a big enough proportion to warrant a mention anyway. Can you not see why people might find these comments a bit insulting? Not really. I may be desensitised but they seem to be pretty standard comments to me. Fuck knas then, I think him and the club get an easy ride from fans who have turned into battered wives the longer the Ashley tenure has went on. He should stop behaving like him or the club is under the microscope or being put under the least bit of pressure by fans or media as that really isn't the case.

I wonder if he thought people were overreacting last summer, his comments that the fans should be happy that we kept all of our best players and added Anita would suggest so. Still, didn't take him long to start bleating on about how his tiny squad was the reason we couldn't string 2 passes or 2 wins together. He's absolutely full of shit and the overreaction stuff is an extra little sly dig in the bollocks. Fans who have invested in the club emotionally and financially over the years have every right to hope or expect more than 1 loan signing on the back of finishing 16th and not be accused of an overreaction when they're miffed at no investment.
-
Yeah true, it's almost as if he twists things to fit his own agenda at any given time. Management issues aside, it is quite depressing that we have such a fucking tosser as the club's public figurehead.
-
Have nowt against you personally but that first paragraph is easily the worst thing I've ever read on here. And that's a hotly contested thing, but it's head and shoulders above even a Brett post. Just totally and utterly braindead stupid.
-
Same here, I think it's a decent idea. Aye, it takes away a country's chance of hosting it but YOLO.
-
He basically has no right to accuse anyone of overreacting, it was a completely inexplicable under-reaction that led to him keeping his job summer just gone. Sorry, can we just put forum divides and point scoring aside for a second so I can ask: Do people think he's quite flippantly insulting and offensive towards the fans at the minute? I feel like I've heard 3 or 4 things from him recently that promote the idea of us being idiots in a lazy Southern media way that is designed to reflect better on him.
-
Awful quotes. Bloke is a fucking muppet. Guess all managers are fucking muppets though, so swings and roundabouts. Interviewers probably ask him if he wants to be a muppet.
-
I think Dave's good, the idiots calling him I could take or leave, and that's beyond charitable. But plod along with this shite we must.
-
It's good but the last couple of paragraphs are a bit fucking much.
-
It's a very good point actually, you're right.
-
Yeah, tbh if he's on the pitch for 30 league games or more I don't see why he couldn't score 15+. His scoring record for us isn't bad at all and would only get better if he gained the momentum you only get when you're not out injured all the time. I'm glad it's an aim of his anyway, it really should be.
-
It will be funny tomorrow when people come into this thread and accuse others of trying to pick fault and be pessimistic when the club's on something of a high on the pitch. That's obviously not what people are doing but it'll be said. Or maybe not now that I've posted this.
