What's their record and our record vs the same teams? Areet Alan, steady on - you're blowing your cover. Makes a bit more sense now. It's JESUS!!!!!

 Laughing my fucking arse off at this, it will really hurt them that O'Neill was such an epic failure there. I know a few sound mackems who I almost feel sorry for, but nar. Hilarious.

When you have a midfielder at left back and your third (fourth?) choice right back playing it's not unexpected. Not welcome obviously, but not unexpected. That's been the case for 31 games? Because we're, erm, looking at figures across 31 games. Jesus. I wasn't aware the original post was referring to an earlier one containing stats from this season. Please accept my apologies. And while I am flattered I can categorically state I am not your lord and savior. It's OK, we'll get through this. I'm not sure if I can work you out btw, you seem to be defending/vouching for Pardew, yet some of your posts seem serious and some tongue-in-cheek. What's your view in a nutshell, you'd stick with him next year presumably?

Newcastle don't really have bankers, I now realise. There's no game you could point to and say "easy two goal minimum" win. I thought we had that against Reading, QPR and Stoke at home - and of those games which we won (not all of them!) we made hard work of them all. Motoring away to three points in games has rarely been a luxury we can enjoy this season. I agree but the games are running out now, we've been in a position before where our form wasn't good enough but we had a handful of "winnable" home games coming up - we didn't win enough of them and got relegated. As I've implied I think we'll stay up but it's going to be bloody close IMO, our away form is killing us.

If they manage to score first it could get fairly ugly. Have you seen their support? It's going to get fairly ugly anyway.

People banking on a home win versus Sunderland is a bit of a concern for me like. I think we'll beat them, but it could be any result given that it's a derby and neither team is playing particularly well. It's hardly a home banker, could quite easily draw it IMO.

Oh my fucking God, I've just looked at the league table. Jesus, we need to start winning quickly. Would have been a decent idea to give that a try today actually.

He'll just be happy to have it over with, hoping his excuses wash this time so he can live another day. Has worked with a few on here.

Would winning a cup make him a good manager? it would make him our most successful for over 40 years, I could live with it. Don't be daft. He'd have nothing to do with it. It would all be down to the individual brilliance of the players. (Or something like that). And Graham Carr. Rubbish. Again.

Hand on heart I don't think either will happen tbh, I think we'll go out next round and manage to get 40 or so points and stay up. Same problems will remain.

It's irrelevant "how long we give him" because our opinion doesn't register with the owner. He'll do exactly as he pleases with our club, and that's likely to be sticking with Pardew. This reality makes it so difficult to support the club/team at the moment because with this squad we all know we could do so much better with a decent coach. I really think they might bin him, they're not anywhere near as stupid as I thought they were and they'll want to be getting maximum return on a lot of the good work they're doing off the pitch. They're ruthless too and I'd be surprised if Pardew's contract was worth the paper it was written on, in terms of the implications of sacking him. Knowing Ashley an 8 year contract pay off for Pardew would cost less than paying any of the previous owners managers off for 6 months worth. I think it will be this summer unless he wins the Europa cup or Jan if we arent in the top 10 by then. Me too, Ashley and Llambias are all about value for money etc and I'd imagine they'll be really fucked off about this season, regardless of their own dallying last summer. He gets paid up a year of his contract. Aye, that's what people seem to be saying. £1m or whatever seems like a fucking bargain at the minute. The thing that does cross my mind sometimes is if we somehow managed to win the Europa League then I'd have to get a tattoo of Pardew's face on my chest or something, I place so much value on winning a trophy after 40-odd years of under-achievement and it feel like the ultimate irony if a manager that I've never really taken to (other than giving him credit here and there for good results, etc) was the one that delivered it for us. was just wondering what the Pardew Haters would do if we won the Europa Would be funny like, I'd have to do a U-Turn and start writing the daft cunt love letters or something. If he manages that then I'd be so happy it would probably buy him another 5 seasons of playing fucking dreadful football without me even complaining.

The only thing making me think they'd veer on the side of keeping him is that they're happy they can control him and haven't had the best track record in that respect with other managers, however I think there are other managers that would work in similar circumstances as it seems to be the way football's going.

I think the football under Pardew's that bad on the whole that it's only vaguely acceptable when you're getting good results, because in a sense you can't really argue with it as everyone wants what's best for NUFC and that ultimately means winning games. However, bad football and bad results is a horror combination and that's what we've had this year. That said, I am generally a big believer in playing well (as in expressively, without fear, with attacking intent and a gameplan to worry the opposition rather than worry about them) will generally yield results if you do it well enough. The 2 things (performances and results) can and should go hand in hand. That's been drummed into me as a philosophy since Keegan was manager, and then Robson had a similar outlook too. I do fear it'll mean I'll rarely be happy as a Newcastle fan, it's fucking annoying.

It's not. At all. But, I don't think you'll find many who'd disagree. It is what it is, and today hasn't changed that. My position is well known, but he still gets next year for me. One season of supposed massive over performance, one of massive under performance. I'd like to see what the mean is before a decision is made. Depends if you think last season was over-performance I suppose. For me, with our players, it was about par. Nee wonder you're never happy then if you think 5th is par. I'd say it was slightly above par, on the face of it finishing above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea was quite impressive and I'd say we did very well most of the season to get results when it mattered. However, that is ignoring the fact that both Chelsea and Liverpool had shocking seasons in the league by their standards, that we definitely did have good luck with injuries on the whole considering our threadbare squad, and also that we didn't exactly play good football along the way. I think we got quite lucky last year tbh, but fair play - I was proud of the results and league position if not most of the performances.
