He was on for about 5 minutes and his only contribution other than fucking up a throw in was doing the above 2 or 3 times. Looked shit and shot of confidence.

See, that's just stuff me dad's shown me / talked about and it's obviously sunk in, I was born in 1984. I also remember that one of the only football videos we had was the relegation one from the late-80s for some reason, so I watched that a few times when I was a kid. Think we only won a handful of games but seem to remember us getting a couple of positive results against Liverpool.

Am I right like? You're always hearing about Brighton when it comes to Keegan as a player, was it his last game for us? Also seem to remember seeing Beardsley scoring a classic against the same opposition but mind might be playing tricks there.

They have made efforts to look at the longer term though, not least with the plans for those unbelievable training facilities for developing their own players. I don't think that expense will count against them with the new rules, correct me if I'm wrong, so that's a way to re-direct the crazy money available and build for the long term. They have to break even under the new rules, but there is leeway in that if they are shown to moving in right direction UEFA can make an exception, and one wonders if UEFA would really kick a hugely rich team out of the CL. The point as I understand it is that the big clubs in general are very much for this as it will stop them spending so much, they see themselves spending so much purely to compete and if they can all stop at once would be ideal. I wonder if it'll work though, it doesn't quite go anywhere near as address all the problems with the greedy money grabbing pile of bastards that operate at all levels of the top leagues across europe etc etc, but then again if it cuts down on the stupid money thrown around it could well be very good all round. They surely can't penalise a club for spending money on stuff other than player wages / transfer fees though. Training facilities, scouting development, ground improvements are surely not what they're looking to stamp out, even if clubs are spending a bit beyond their means to develop in this respect. What if a club wants to move to a new stadium on a bank loan for hundreds of millions of pounds, a la Arsenal? I suppose with it being a loan that would probably be a bit different. I honestly think much of this will be so murky that UEFA will never have the conviction to do a damn thing about it.

Aye, they'll sell him for £25m even though he's worth "fack aw" and they'll get the money "ap frant" as well, don't worry about it. As much as we clearly bought well over the summer - better than I thought we had in hindsight - I do think there are holes in the squad that we should have plugged with the money we had. I'm still very apprehensive about centre half cover and yesterday we had nobody on the bench who could help change the game.
