FAW chiefs at a loss to explain Gary Speed death

An article about Speed when he was approaching his 500th Premier League appearance 5 years ago: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport/article-23377551-model-pro-speed-notches-up-500.do

Man Utd 1 - 1 Newcastle Utd - 26/11/11 - post-match reaction from page 46

It just beggars belief. The team top of the fair play league have the most yellow and red cards FFS, that's ludicrous. IIRC the scores in that column are based on losing points for cards, not gaining them. So on that table there would be a maximum of 100 points over the ten games. Aha, fair do's. Well we're still 4 points ahead of the team in 2nd in that category and we're 2nd bottom. -

Also, the other variables are far too subjective and prone to bias to mean a bloody thing. -

I hadn't actually realised that Bellamy had returned to the international fold recently, being convinced to do so by Speed.

That Leeds side was very slightly before my time but that's clearly a mouthwatering midfield.

He said "What a fantastic set of clubs he played for - Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle... for a few quid, Man United". As elbee says: That is the context it was said in, Lawrenson was being a total prick.

I don't think you should go overboard in these situations personally, perhaps the 2 minutes silence that's reserved for certain situations and a gesture from the fans and club. Maybe a collection for him which can be donated to a charity of his family's choice or one that he was known to hold in high regard. The important thing isn't grandiose gestures but expressing what the fans felt for him and that's been made abundantly clear today and will be even more so next Saturday.

Has always seemed a decent bloke, Hayward.

I've only just seen the Wigan goal on MOTD, was perfect like.

Yeah read that a few times today, I guess it's been water under the bridge. I have an Everton supporting mate, saw him this morning and he was gutted when we heard the news. Fwiw, all the Everton fans I'm aware of are equally gutted at this and are as disbelieving as NUFC fans on this board. IIRC the Everton fans were pissed off that he left the club, in fact Wikipedia seems to back this up: Not trying to rewrite history - just saying we've all had players we've been annoyed at when they've left, doesn't mean we hate them or anything.

Irresponsible from Kamara that, how does that help the situation in anyway. He's in grief as well, like...everyone is all over the place about this. You have to make some allowances...I guess? Yep. Yeah, agree.

Fuck's sake, that picture is destroying me.

If there is one, they shouldn't publish it out of respect for his family. Not that it will fucking stop them like. If there is one it will definitely become public knowledge imo, whether that's brought on by it being printed or not.
-
Yeah, they may as well.

This, Alex Ferguson didn't win his first trophy at Man Utd for 4 years!
-
More Mario drama. He's kicked the dressing room door in or something by the sound of it.
-
That wasn't an easy chance for Carroll but the end result was comical.
