  1. what and miss out on the "fun" of deadline day Nah, then we can purely concentrate on worrying about who we're selling.
  2. Not signing him and Maiga on July 1st saves us maybe 500k in wages? Improving financial position
  3. Cracking signing, shame we couldn't get this lad AND pieters.
  4. Has he also been booked twice? Or did he not get a card against WBA? No yellows in WBA game
  5. Screenshot? Aye, but wipe the off it first.
  6. He wont be, but should be out of the team to Taylor. They're equally as bad defenders, but at least Taylor offers us a goal threat. Having Jonas in front of Santon on the left allows him Santon to push forward more too, as Jonas is better at tracking back to help out than anyone we have playing on the right.
  7. In his last 50 minutes on the pitch, we've conceded 4 vs WBA and Fulham and scored 1, an own goal.
  8. Aye, the concept of a conference call to discuss terms hasn't reached Milan yet.....

    Leon Best

He's the sort of player you need in your squad as a 4th choice striker, behind 3 other, better, strikers. We now just need to get the three better strikers.
  10. What about "Reports: Davide Santon expected to go to the airport, get on a plane, fly to Newcastle, claim his baggage, get into a car, travel to St James Park, undergo a medical, enter the negotiation room, agree terms and sign a deal only for us to withdraw our offer when he asks for a Greggs pasty as his signing on fee"?
  11. "Never heard of him. He could be the worst player on the planet, but as soon as he runs out for those fuckers he will turn into Messi"
  12. Having youtubed this fella. I can honestly say he's our best signing since Nacho Gonzalez.
  13. Wasn't he loaned out last year? So not beyond the realms of possibility they want to get some dosh in for him.
  14. Looked a threat today. Stronger, quicker and more 'up for it'. Hope the improvement continues.
  15. Sick of the whole Barton saga tbh. Time for everyone to draw a line under it and move on.
  16. I think Pardew nearly cost us that with his subs. Vuckic for Best was daft, Best was full of confidence and we ended up sitting back too much and nearly blobbed it

  18. Good player, who's on pitch contributions were important, but not irreplacable. Shame he's gone, but whatever. We've lost better and we'll lose better in the future. The biggest concern of mine now is who we'll play on the RW.
  19. You sure? We've essentially had a transfer ban since 2008...
  20. I beg to differ tbh. I'd happily take another bottom half finish (as long as we're not in danger) as opposed to finishing 8th-10th if it helped us get to the League Cup semi's giving us a decent chance of winning something. It's been too long since we had a good cup run and we're not going to win the league any time shortly. That's fair enough. It has been too long since we won something and realistically this Cup is our best chance of doing it. I'm just saying we shouldn't be putting our first XI out on Thursday night knowing we've got Fulham on Sunday afternoon. Mix a few young lads in with a few older heads whilst giving players like Tiote games to get him up to speed. Oh I agree because we shouldn't need to put a full-strength side out against Scunthorpe to get the win. I went to the 4-0 home defeat versus Arsenal last year and was pissed off that we'd fucked off another chance to have a good go at winning a trophy by playing a weakened side. But a few days later I was torn because we beat the mackems 5-1. In hindsight I'll forgive it because it was our first season back up in the top flight and matches against Sunderland are a special case, but in general we're not in a position to basically deliberately lose a cup match when we've went such a pathetic amount of time without a trophy. And seen the likes of Birmingham, Leicester and Portsmouth win trophies in the mean time. I'd be astonished and annoyed if any of our lot genuinely wanted that tbh. I want us to win every game but some games (and competitions) are more important than others. The team we put out against Arsenal that night was akin to deliberately losing the game imo, we wanted to get it over with and move on. Yet if we'd won we just had Ipswich and Birmingham to win the cup didn't we?
