Would be interested to know how Best's game was today - from anyone watching? Ta.
-
Can see plenty of draws in the weeks ahead.
-
Come on Shefki man!
-
Willo an important player today - defending set pieces.
-
A Shefki-style pile up celebration would be something to behold!!
-
Journeyman pro gets his shot at the big time. He's going to be well motivated. If he does get on, it won't be pretty but would expect to see him create some mayhem in the box at set pieces at the very least.
-
Got to pleased for him. He'll play out of his skin I reckon.
-
Cheik says he wants to stay http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/newcastle-united/nufc-news//tm_headline=cheik-tiote-says-he-wants-to-stay-with-toon%26method=full%26objectid=28140526%26siteid=72703-name_page.html Would be pleased to have him for just one more season. Just can’t ever remember a player for us who bosses the midfield like he does. He’s all over it.
-
Bit more quoted from Cheik in the Mirror “At half-time it was a very angry dressing room. The manager was furious, shouting. He said this is not Newcastle United. “He said it was up to us to put it right, to give something back to the fans. We had to give them something, they spend a lot of money and time on supporting the team and we had let them down. He was very annoyed. “There were things thrown in there and we had let ourselves down. It was not a normal performance. He told us to wake up. Not much doubt he's giving the credit to the manager there.

Tiote, like Tino, will never be forgotten.
-
Not done too bad so far. Bit of a deceptive player, looks like he could turn into something if he puts the work in. Surprisingly decent finisher in the box - with his feet anyway. One thing's for sure - the next few weeks are the biggest opportunity he's ever going to get, so can only hope he takes it.
-
Just got to enjoy him while we can.
-
Obviously chewed the paint off the walls at HT. Probably for the first time with our players. That 2nd half has completely changed the atmosphere around the club after a shit week. He's done his job very well today.
-
Quite a week eh lads and lassies? Fucking hell!
-
Will record this tonight and enjoy again and again. 2nd half only mind!
-
Fuck me lads!! This is completeley unbelievable. This is a season changer now
-
Come on you lads!! Pride being restored.
-
Come on lads. Let's have a bit of pride.

I think this is Pardew's way of being open with the fans. How well judged it is, is another matter. At least he's putting into the public domain what the thinking is behind the scenes. Or at least his perception of it. Personally I've never thought he's ever blatantly misled the fans on behalf of Ashley. But to help himself, he should probably say less from now on and stay focussed on team matters. Whatever he says about the availability or not of Tiote, he won't have the final say when the bids come in.
-
Pardew's come in for quite a lot of stick from the off for apparently lying about when he was first approached for the job, but who in football has ever admitted to being tapped up? It's part of the fabric of the game, but the code is you never admit to it publicly. In my view he's no more guilty than anyone else on that score. I think no manager will ever have it easy working alongside this regime on the transfer front and then have to front up to the fans for the decisions, or lack of them. Keegan revealed that his recommendations were constantly being undermined. We can't know to what degree that may or may not have happened again this time. One thing in common with all the windows since Ashley took over is that there never seems to have been any recognisable plan. It could be that the managers have had one, but they've been let down by those doing (or on purpose not doing) the deals.

Unfortunately the thing we love is in the hands of an inveterate gambler. With a bit of care and good planning and (dare I say it) some modest investment, we could have consolidated an excellent season. But not for us it seems. Not the logical, sensible decision making you would think that any owner in his right mind would wish to make. Instead it’s going to be a pretty desperate fight to scrape together enough points to survive. I just hope the lad’s spirit holds up. It’s brought us a long way this season and we’re going to be relying on it even more now. Bloody hell - this week has been heavy!
-
Thought there was at least some effort from the lads tonight. The unfortunate thing with gamblers like Ashley is that they nearly always lose and fuck up the lives of everyone connected to them. The impact of losing Ameobi is not bad luck in my opinion, it's crap planning.

Liverpool's more professional approach? They sold their best striker and gambled massive money on two players with only 6 months premiership experience between them. There's only one thing more risky than us selling Andy Carroll for £35m, and that's them buying him. Probably wrong choice of words on my part. Was just trying to emphasise that they put their club's best interest first by holding onto their striker until they had a replacement in. At least that's the way it looked on the day. Unlike us, scrabbling around at the last minute to get someone in which made our lot look like a bunch of amateurs.

Agree with your points. But was meaning that they put their club's interests first by not selling until they got a replacement in
