It's just great. I think it's his obvious and genuine respect for the club and the fans that has touched me the most. He's got straight to the heart. And it's just wonderful that someone of his quality and professionalism should be actually willing to drop down a league and take this job on, in such times as these.

Just an incredible set of circumstances seem to be coming together here, creating something positive out of all the bucket loads of shit these last years. It really is unbelievable.

Was good to see him be the first to get to Darlow and congratulate him for the pen save, he seems to have been really up for the fight under Rafa.

Couldn't watch the game tonight, but not surprised he's putting it in now it's coming down to the line. Always had a soft spot and respect for him since the last game of last season when he ran himself into the ground, along with Jonas. Showed he cared.

Still can't quite believe this could be the outcome of everything we've been put through by the club these past years, it's unbelievable really. It'll all be on a knife edge until the end of the season, but at least there is now something to look forward to if we can somehow stay in this league, even if it is just a tantalising glimpse at the moment. Rafa could have such a a huge positive impact.

The greatest sympathy to his family. Pavel played a big part in my life as a supporter, lots of fond memories. Was only listening to him on the radio the other week too, incredible really that he should be gone so young.

Depressingly I reckon we will hold onto him way beyond it being too late, out of plain ignorance. Have to admit to being initially quite encouraged by the coaching appointments, so desperate were things before. But the whole head coach idea being spouted off is proving to be fucked, and comes from those at the club who know nothing. This club desperately needed some leadership where none was being shown, and should have appointed a proper manager with that quality. But I suppose they were never going to see that or admit to it anyway.

We're the incentive for all the teams below us and will have been for a while, they know we're fucked. You really couldn't get a better motivation. I'm convinced we're better off in the championship now. It's the only chance of getting the club back.

It's a good start. Hopefully momentum will continue into the next games. Proud of all who have stayed away today.

Rather a nice quiet kind of exciting time at the moment. No idea how it'll pan out, but there's a few interesting names in the frame it seems.

The man banged on about doing the job with dignity, but turned out to be the least dignified manager of the club I can remember. That's part of the cloud that's lifted for me today. Apart from the obvious good coaching skills, one of the things I'm looking forward to in the new man is someone who can represent us again with a bit of dignity, honesty and respect.

Reckon the crowd will be well up for it. A game to look forward to at last. Good riddance to 2014.

There is no doubt in my mind that Hatem has been touched by the soul of the club. Which is unusual enough these days, and actually pretty remarkable in the situation in which he finds himself. He desperately wants to play for the fans, and the fans only. Like us, he has seen through the hollowness of the regime, and the desperate level of coaching and pathetic self-serving agendas of the current management. The fact that someone who not only loves the club but is it's most talented player has been smeared at every turn this season and is now being actively driven out, perfectly sums up the nature of this manager.

Any other manager would be shitting himself up there in the directors box behind his owner, but not this one, I fear.

The worst half by far this season, and there's been quite a lot of competition. Total disgrace, particularly from the management.

Been quietly cursing him for months now, but really felt for him at the end there, standing alone and thanking his god. Showed clearly how much he cares. Just an extraordinary run of misses it's been. Never known anything like it at all.

As some others have said, I too found myself not celebrating a last minute winner today. The very first time that has ever happened. And it's been a lot of years. It's a very strange, numb-like feeling, that one feels these days.

Just to confirm the incredible nature of the media view out there at the moment. On the weekend football review on Talksport this afternoon, with guest journo Patrick Barclay, the conclusion was that Pardew (doing a great job) would be justified in moving on because of the lack of ambition being shown by the club! Think I've heard everything now.

Mail reporter reckons he was forced off injured. With Pardew waxing so lyrical, probably unlikely he's hooked him.
