Raylor should be on set pieces as soon as he comes on.
-
Come on Shefki. Your moment here has come.
-
It's a good sub for me. A Raylor set piece might be all we can ask for out of this.
-
Find myself hoping we can hold out until Kuqi comes on!
-
Crucial passage of play now. Come on lads.
-
They're looking nervous to me, giving the ball away.
-
Nile doing ok in the air
-
Think we're doing not too bad considering.
-
Am expecting defense and midfield to be solid. Goals in the forward line is another matter, though it would be just great if Ranger came good in this game.
-
Agree with the extra height at the back for set pieces with Shola out. Too vulnerable otherwise.
-
Shame for Best, things were just going well for him. Only saving grace is that Shola, Loven and Ranger should be extra motivated to impress in the remaining games. They must all, in their different ways, be feeling they are playing for their futures right now.
-
I find myself respecting Shola more and more these days. He continues to put his body on the line and has done so now for a number of years, particularly through his hip problems a while back. It's remarkable he's been around so long, but I was chuffed for him for that performance. Arguably the most critical game of the season and he ran their defence ragged. We really needed him, and it was just great stuff by the man.

Had been crapping myself about this game. So important. Really dug a fantastic result out today with an under strength team. Well done to everyone.

Newcastle United vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers, 02/04/11 - Pre-match Thread

Well, as you say. Would be chickens coming home to roost wouldn't it? Why, however, would the official site say "Injury doubts Leon Best and Jose Enrique were able to take part, which suggests both players have a chance of playing on Saturday" if Best broke down in the training session that was being photographed? Guess we won't know until the day. Was interested to hear John Carver's interview on the official website refusing to reveal fitness status of players in case it gives the opposition an advantage. Guess they're trying to use every advantage at this stage of the season. Hopefully this might be part of the general obfuscation. If he were to miss a number of games, it's going to be a struggle. -

Best not looking too great according to this. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/237987/Leon-Best-blow-turns-heat-on-Alan-Pardew-s-Newcastle Chickens coming home to roost? Looks like it could be down to Ameobi and Nolan to see us home. -
Find, rather sadly, I'm purposely not watching any time he's on. Still something painful there about the speed it all happened - and all that potential now going to be fulfilled at another club. Gazza is the only similar example I can remember. Nothing against Carroll, some day he might regret what he could have been here. Just hope to Christ those in charge can conjure us up a decent forward line in the summer, and I can move on!

The moving the goalposts bit fits with the media story a few days back of Barton being unhappy offered only a 2 year deal. Likely they offered more money but reduced length of contract. Difficult to work out if its just normal negotiations, or if Llambias wouldn't be too unhappy getting him off the payroll.

A right little terrier. Good skills as well. Definitely a winger for me, with excellent workrate qualities for tracking back which could make him a very reliable little player. Probably still cover at the moment as we could do with bringing in a top winger to play either side, but has already shown enough that I would feel confident in him whenever he does gets a start.
-
Definitely a position that could realistically be improved upon. Then keeping one of the youngsters on as backup.

Wolves are a spirited team, and will be no pushovers. Our attitude will have to be 100% right. Hope the gubbing today isn't an indication the players are already switching off. We need a win quickly. It's a big game for Pardew, this one. -
Think there's a good chance he'll see next season out. Could still lose some key players this summer, but there will be money to spend on replacements so maybe the status quo - somewhere mid table - can be maintained. Can see a year of consolidation ahead, and there's no reason to think Ashley would not be happy with that. If Pardew gets it right, that is. And the board works with him on securing the players he wants. Think he just has to watch the way he talks about his past success in the transfer market/the need to find a new number 9 etc. He could be setting himself up for a fall if things don't work out. The summer will be his most important here, but it would be a lot on the plate of any manager - with the key contract renewals/Carroll money to spend etc. Overall I think Ashley will be looking for some nous in the transfer market, and will give Pardew a year to see how his moves work out - unless the wheels fall off completely during the season.

Is Mike Ashley the worst person ever to have been associated with NUFC?
Wil replied to AlanSkÃrare's topic in Football
Does he want out? Could always be bollocks. Not sure if this is the right place but..... http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Exclusive-A-billionaire-Indian-business-man-is-ready-to-offer-Mike-Ashley-200-million-plus-to-takeover-Newcastle-article713116.html -
Would be a great shame if he blows the opportunity he's got at this club. He won't get a better one. Still, they must be telling him that all the time. So much potential, but without the right attitude he's just not going to make it. Hope he gets his head together before the patience of the staff runs out. Farming him out must be in Pardew's mind, assuming he's planning on getting a couple of forwards in. Will probably be a make or break year for the lad.
-
Safe, for me. Been feeling positive since the win over Birmingham. Just can't see the wheels falling off completely with the spirit that's in the squad.

Slightly sick to the stomach is what I'm feeling.
