  1. damn its the notw so its not true
  2. Like him generally but he's being ridiculously negative. Thought they did great this evening considering what we have at our disposal. Much as Andy Reid is a fat mackem w*****, he's miles better than anyone we have in centre midfield. We'd actually be half alright if there were any CM's in the team. Hope we get someone s**** in playoffs, probably lose otherwise. problem is we don't have a midfielder capable of doing the donkey work in the centre on his own because a.reid ain't going to do enough of it. The Reid we're missing is Stephen reid and i hope he's fit for the play off But Whelan and Andrews aren't exactly masterful donkey work artists, you're not actually losing much with them not being there. They don't protect the back four that well, or impose themeselves physically on the game. They're just there. Fat Reid is at least good at passing the ball, and offers you something in attack. Stephen Reid would play if he were fit anyway. they may not be masters of it but imagine how little protection the back 4 would have if it was a.reid and whelan for example? formerly fat reid may be good on the ball but thats no good if we dont have it and against the likes of italy who are good at keeping possession we won't. I'll trust trappatonis judgement on this, he knows a hell of a lot more about football than you or i

  4. just using the rules to the fullest extent and those who have the right grandparents are more than welcome to play for us. We're not too proud to take them
  5. i agree, we just got a draw out of the world champions and he's saying it was a horrendous performance, fool You make it sound like you just played Italy of 2006, that team would have spanked you. still have better players than what we have

  7. well its a good result and we have play offs so its good. God damn italy though why won't they stay down
  8. don't care if he is a smoggie hes a genius tonight. COME ON WE CAN TOP THIS GROUP!!!!!!!!!!
  9. he wants nothing to do with international football so screw him
  10. Forgot about Defoe. Still think Bent is overrated, he's got a cheek complaining he's not in the squad. well id be pissed off if i was not in the squad and i was scoring regularly while someone who ain't even starting for his club and scores once in a blue moon is ahead of me, wouldnt you?
  11. what a goal what a goal sheer brilliance from lawerence and whelan with the strike! 1-0 Ireland!!!!!!!
  12. well you can't win them all and you are already at the world cup, capello will learn more from a loss than a victory
  13. the overdraft would be in the clubs name not mike ashley, the reason they are willing to give him a high one is they have been dealing with him for a couple of years and know he has the ability to pay off the overdraft if it came down to that.
  14. its all fine and dandy saying just sell him but you need a buyer and there ain't anyone out there who will buy him, absolutely no one is going to chance a move for him, if they were willing to risk it then he'd have been gone during the summer as I'd think mike ashley would have taken any bid for him
  15. he's got a point about alonso too, great player but does go down easy even if his tackle was stupid I think what he means is Shearer got personal. Shearer was furious with him (understandably) and called it a 'coward's tackle', and looking at that account, 'coward' is the worst thing that you can call Joey Barton. Barton is right in a sense - it was stupid and irresponsible, rather than cowardly. But if you behave like that and let everyone down, you've got to take the stick on the chin. perhaps I'm looking into it too much, but with all the talk of shearer taking over in dugout whenever the fat man sells I must admit there are many things worrying me that were noticeable during his brief tenure in charge and one of them is man management, I know bartons about as hard a player to handle as there is but I compare how Shearer handled a bust up with barton to how hughton handled one and it speaks for itself. as i said perhaps i'm overthinking this
  16. in fairness he's right, sure we're in the championship but 4th biggest stadium in England loyal fanbase still turning out in huge numbers despite all the shit good training grounds already there, all the ingredients are present for a strong force in the league given some time and the right person in charge at boardroom and in the dugout.
  17. the bust up was with Shearer and Dowie so presumably one of them layed into him with personal insults which even with an incident as stupid as bartons sending off was is not particularly good man management
  18. a rather fasinating insight into bartons past. I have to say I hope I really hope that he has left his sordid off the field stuff in the past and learned his lesson, and in fairness in that respect there hasnt been a peep out of him (other than as i recall the sun making a story out of forgetting to pay for a train ticket or something like that) what I found most curious is this bit he's got a point about alonso too, great player but does go down easy even if his tackle was stupid
  19. but when everyones the same and just toys to arab billionaires and only survive on the mood of the owner? Not how it works out there mate, if they buy something it has to be the biggest and best, the competition is far more fierce than here, they wont get bored and stop investing they would sell but they wouldnt just walk away, they would lose to much face in their community. Im not saying its right, but its the way the game is going and were either in it or we`re nowhere. Tbh I can see a time where advertising revenue and sponsorship for these mega-clubs is so massive that stadium income is no longer needed, what goods stadium revenue to a tax exhile billionaire using the club as a social event? free admission anyone? that final bit is happening already with ticket revenue becoming a smaller and smaller ammount of the total for the bigger clubs. ticket income may not be the be all end all anymore but its still an essential part of a clubs income, for a prem side its usually a third of the income, arsenal moved to the emirates to get access to bigger ticket income.
  20. I'm not sure how that works, its something I've asked before but nobody seems to know. I do know its £264m, of which an unknown amount is spread across the 24 teams but I've got no idea how its distributed. For comparison the Premiership is £1.8b distributed to 20 teams. this is how it works "Revenue from the agreements will be split according to the Football League's television income distribution mechanism, meaning 80% to the Championship, 12% to the League One and 8% to League Two. So clubs in every division will receive more than they currently do once the new deal kicks in. For clubs in League One, the incentive to gain promotion to the Championship becomes even greater." Ah right, so that clears up how much money actually goes to Championship sides (£211.2m over three seasons). But I wonder how that's distributed within the league? I mean obviously it has to be based, to some degree, on the number of times each team is on TV. But is there a basic rate plus bonus for being on TV plus extra for final league placing or what? I dont think theres extra for final place but i think there is a bonus for each televised match so we'll have the highest tv income in the football league

  23. we'll be high by championship standards but still patheticly low compared to prem
