this is the sort of thing someone in charge of recruitment should be answering instead of the guy with nothing to do with it and who's probably as disappointed as us not to get signings, oh if only we had such an individual............. Fact is Pardews left to defend the indefensible and while I don't overly agree with this particular line of thinking (however it could be argued to be accurate in theory as the tv money comes over the season blah blah blah) he was never going to rail against Ashley/JFK because in reality it would achieve the square root of fuck all except make things a whole lot worse and bring the circus of NUFC into full focus while he try's to ignore it and just get on with the day to day work.

you talk like anything would change transfer wise if Pardew left. Erm, are you missing the point entirely? I'm saying that the scouting needs to be aligned with what the manager wants to work with. and it won't ever be or to any football philosophy only to sell on value. By itself thats not the worst since even clubs like Man Utd prefer to buy players who they could at least make their money back most of the time (RVP is an exception to the norm) so long as its also being used as part of a plan which the manager agrees with on the type of footballer the club buys, this is not the case here and the squad shows this ridiculous imbalance. We sign technically good players, Graham Carr seems to like them. Pardew can't work with them. We need to change the manager or change the chief scout, not sure why this is such a difficult concept for you to comprehend. I'm not as convinced about the quality of the players. I was going to respond with a big post but since neither of us can be bothered then just get to the point man, because it's getting boring. We're signing shit players that are being managed by a shit manager, is that it? some average occasional good player but a squad lacking in key area's being managed by an average manager dealing with issues that would trouble even the best manager. I have a hard time seeing any manager doing well under this set up.

Also really good argument to put up the asking price when you take into account the guaranteed income from staying up. Will also negate to a degree any potential boycotts effect on his wallet with the sheer amount of cash on offer.

It all adds pressure. not really, main issue is still the same, no one wants to buy the club. Nobody wants to the buy club at the price Mike wants. I'm sure there would be a ton of interested parties if the price wasn't so outrageous. there wasn't a load of people breaking down the door when it was for sale in the championship was there? Only one guy who couldn't afford a knock down price for it. The price isn't going to change. He will want at least to break even or perhaps even to make a profit.

or just another case of footballer being bloody thick shocker.

tbh I think he'd rather stay in club football. Wouldn't object if he did take it however

forgot Taylor was available again.

2 goal loss imho

he's got a job with manyoo I'm sure the prospect of bullying reporters could tempt him back to real management and hey more time between games for what he wants to do. Hell its worth a try even if theres a limited chance

even that is at best medium term thinking, what needs to be done is a complete overhaul of football in this country from grassroots to the top. Problem is thats too much effort and would require actually acknowledging the existence of the league of ireland clubs which is just inconvenient and Mr Delany has much more important things to think about like what drink to buy now.

all good things must come to an end. Now I saw this idea on twitter and I like it, offer the job to Alex Ferguson as a nice little retirement job to keep him busy

FAI Press statement September 11, 2013 Football Association of Ireland The recent results against Sweden and Austria were very disappointing for everyone involved in Irish football, the manager, the players and supporters. Our aim of qualification, although mathematically possible, is now highly unlikely even though the team will always do everything within their power to keep that hope alive. The FAI Board of Management will now consider the current position over the coming days. The post-match press conference which was due to take place this afternoon in Dublin has been cancelled ENDS probably end game for Trap then

well................ not likely to happen simply because I can't ever see Fifa standing for it. Perhaps the two leagues should merge however.

Extratime.ie News @ExtratimeNews 2m Dunphy: The Spanish manager (Vicente del Bosque) is on only 50,000 euro. Vicente del Bosque is on 1.5 million euro. #DunphyFacts

so was terry venables at one stage, thank christ that didn't come off.

who else is there? We're not an attractive option and the ones linked mostly won't come or I'd switch to supporting england if others like them were appointed (keane)

won't improve anything him going, we're still a shite team Playing to win (or score) would surely improve things a little bit though. it would help if any of our other strikers apart from Keane had a vague idea of where the goal is. Fact is he got us to a playoff last world cup qualifier which we damn near got through and got us to the Euro's thats way above where this team should be

Dunne and O'Shea suspended for trip to Germany, that could get unpleasant................

Sweden looked awful IMO. God knows how bad Ireland must be to have lost to that Sweden team, no creativity and the defence was a mess. Good thing for Sweden that it was just Kazakhstan tonight, even a half decent team would have been able to hurt Sweden. tbf that equaliser on friday was a hell of a goal. We're simply not that good, Keanes still our best player and god knows how McCarthy cost £15m because he's shite.
