  1. I think the majority of football fans would feel sorry for any club who goes under. I'd feel sorry for the Mackems, no doubt. Southampton fans don't seem to have much sympathy, going off their message boards considering what they went through in the summer you'd think they'd have sympathy but then again maybe pompey fans were not so kind back then
  2. i find that hard to believe myself, meanwhile hmrc says portsmouth is insolvent
  3. Except HIM of course... whatever his name is. Mr Portsmouth. http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/05_04/Portsmouth_468x354.jpg reminds me of john mccririck
  4. the times has live coverage from the courts on the 4 winding up petitions http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/article7021629.ece
  5. He owns the ground does he not? is that simon jordon? No, Balram Chainrai. When he first got involved it was strongly rumoured it was part of the deal but the club denied it. I've heard over recent weeks it's now widely agreed he owns the ground. well if he owns the club he owns the ground i suppose
  6. a salary and transfer cap wont come out of the premier league thats for sure it works against their main philosophy: spend spend spend fuck the long term consequences. I feel for the portsmouth fans but somebody has to be made an example of if it will get it into the heads of some thick owners that spending way beyond your means is a bad thing. Besides even if they survive today it will only put off their doom for a while, they're fucked and we all know it
  7. its intresting to note derbys home results vs us wba and forest 2 wins and a draw, not to mention our particular difficulties with them in recent times (why can't we beat derby in 4 attempts when in either season they're crap) they seem a team well capable of raising their game when the big boys come to town
  8. i agree about woodgate and bassong but th reasoning of we shouldn't want him cos of where his club is had to be shpown up. i'd take bramble instead of colo and wiiliamson. i wouldnt, bramble on his day is as good as any defender but those moments of madness just come too often and are too costly, hes done reasonably well at wigan and thats down to the lack of attention paid to wigan here every single english football fan would be waiting for the next moment of madness (us in terror at the prospect everyone else looking forward to some comedy defending from the master of it)
  9. why do we always have one of those games against fucking derby? why always derby!?
  10. if were a couple up i wouldnt be surprised to see him to solidify things
  11. just relegate two I'd imagine, and whoever should have been playing Pompey that week would get the weekend off, and presumably some points. Still don't think they'll go under like. Chris Cooper, Real's mackem commentator, reckons there was one top flight club a few years ago very close to going into liquidation, but didn't. i think whatever points and gd pompey affected other teams with would be gone too
  12. no ranger, and ryan donaldson and smith on the bench
  13. took a shine to toon when i was 6 in their first season in the prem 93 but only properly started paying attention to football around 02-03 not sure
  14. when they stopped judging on trophys or league position
  15. did the bbc run out of proper pundits? get robbie savage back on there
  16. bulgaria were fairly crap in wc qualifying and no montenegro aint played much hence their low seeding but they're not a bad side, better than wales imo (then again i rate my local u11 as better than wales)
  17. Zaragozza and Atletico Madrid (as mentioned) in spain seem the most similar to us
