If it was to be an outdoor venue it's only real competitor would be the mackems place and it would lose every time. Off topic, but they should level the Metro Radio and start again, it's embarrassing how shite it is compared to similar venues around the country.

Ideas have been rumoured about turning in into an outdoor arena for music, but it would have to compete with the Metro radian arena, the SOS, Newcastle City Hall, and the 02 Academy, hardly stands a chance. The land can't be used for a supermarket or a housing complex, it has to be a sports/arts venue of some description. The only real possibility would be to tear it down and build a leisure centre on it. If it was an outdoor arena it wouldn't be competing with 3 of the 4 venues you've listed. Plus a specific outdoor arena for gigs would be absolutely ridiculous considering you only get about 3 or 4 outdoor tours a year, not to mention it'd probably be too small to accommodate these.

Would imagine Gourcuff is getting a start in a sort of make or break role. He's probably the one with a big question mark over his head with regards to whether he goes to the Euros or not.
